WWE Hell in a Cell 2020 will be 12th event in the series. The PPVs from this series features the main event inside Hell in a Cell cage structure. This year’s event is taking place without public attendance due to COVID-19 pandemic. But the fans will be able attend the event with WWE Thunderdome feature..

Hell in a Cell Structure & Rules

Hell in a Cell match takes place under a roofed steel cage. A special concept from WWE, the cell is bigger than a normal steel cage that is generally used in pro-wrestling matches. The cell is made of open-weave steel mesh & chain link fencing in form of a five-sided cuboid. Some ringside area is also included inside the cell structure and is generally used by the wrestlers during the match.

The match rules are very similar to a No Holds Barred match or street fight where wrestlers are free to use any tools at their disposal. Unlike the steel cage match, the wrestlers are allowed to leave the cage. The only way to win is via pinfall or submission inside the cage or on top of it also. A total of 42 Hell in a Cell matches taken place in WWE till now.

Hell in Cell 2020 Match Card

Roman Reigns(c) vs Jey Uso – “I Quit” Hell in a Cell Match, WWE Universal Championship

Roman Reigns retained his title against Jey Uso at Clash of Champions PPV. However, Jey Uso did not acknowledge Roman as the Tribal Chief. So, Roman sanctioned a rematch at Hell in a Cell and warned Jey that it will be the match with most stakes ever in WWE history.

Later, Roman Reigns revealed that it will be an “I Quit” match inside Hell in a Cell. On SmackDown’s go-home episode for the event, Roman revealed that if Jey loses the match, he and his brother, their wives and children will be evicted from Anoi’a Family.

Drew McIntyre(c) vs Randy Orton – Hell in a Cell Match, WWE Championship

This will be the third title match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton in last 3 months. Drew McIntyre retained his title at SummerSlam 2020 and Clash of Champions 2020. Randy Orton refused to give up on his quest for the World title and proposed a Hell in a Cell match. McIntyre later accepted the challenge.

Orton then became the first person to pin McIntyre since Royal Rumble during a 6-man tag team match. The buildup to this match continued with more brawls and back and forth promos.

Winner: Randy Orton

Bayley(c) vs Sasha Banks – Hell in a Cell Match, WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

After teasing a split for months, Bayley turned on Sasha Banks after they lost back to back tag team title matches. Bayley attacked Sasha with steel chair and left her injured.

Later, Sasha returned the favor at Clash of Champions. Sasha vowed that she will take the SmackDown Women’s title away from Bayley. After Bayley caused a DQ to retain her title at SmackDown, a Hell in a Cell match was announced between them.

On 16 October SmackDown episode, Sasha & Bayley were called on to sign the contract for their match. However, Bayley refused to sign and left. Next week, Sasha interrupted her during a promo and then attacked and forced Bayley to sign it on the dotted line.

Elias vs Jeff Hardy

In May 2020, Elias was injured after a car, allegedly driven by Jeff Hardy, ran over him. He returned on 12 October episode of WWE RAW and attacked Hardy with his guitar. The following week, Hardy interrupted Elias during his concert but Elias ran away before Hardy could do much harm. Elias then challenged Hardy for a match at Hell in a Cell 2020 which was later made official.

Otis vs The Miz – Money In The Bank Contract Match

Otis was in a feud with The Miz & John Morrison and was able to outwit them to hold onto his Money in the Bank contract. Miz then went on to get Mandy Rose drafted to RAW. Otis replied with a brutal beating on the Miz and stripped him naked.

This lead to The Miz suing Otis for his MITB contract. In the court hearing(kayfabe), Judge JBL was about to pass verdict in favor of Otis when Miz offered him a bribe and the decision was changed to a match at Hell in a Cell between Miz & Otis with MITB contract on the line.
