The Money in the Bank concept was started in 2005 and there use to be a special Ladder match at WrestleMania every year to crown the new MITB briefcase holder. The match got its separate PPV since 2010. The event used to be held in the month of July initially. From 2014, the event was shifted to June. Since 2019, the event has occupied the position of the first PPV after WrestleMania every year.
