Did Young Rock Reveal Origin of Roman Reigns’ “Acknowledge Me!”?

Romam Reigns Acknowledge Me

Roman Reigns’ “Acknowledge Me” is the most famous catchphrase of pro-wrestling currently. He started using it a few months after he returned as the Tribal Chief.

But, the latest episode of Young Rock TV series might have told about the real origin of the now famous catchphrase. Catch the details below.

Young Roman Screams “Acknowledge Me”

The episode 5 of Young Rock Season 2 aired on April 12, 2022 and featured a scene with Dwyane Johnson’s family watching a WWE show back in 1995. As Yokozuna hit his opponent with a Samoan Drop, a young member of the family jumped on Rock’s neck and asked someone to hit him with a Samoan Drop just one and screamed at the screen “Acknowledge Me.”

Rock told us that this child is none other than his cousin Joe, who we now know as Roman Reigns. While the child Roman saying the Tribal Chief’s catchphrase can be taken with a pinch of salt, is this really the origin of “Acknowledge Me”?

Rock Teases WrestleMania Showdown with Roman Reigns

There is something more in this scene. When none acknowledges him, a disappointed Roman Reigns tells his cousin to lets wrestle. The Rock playfully mocks him by saying, “No, the World is not ready. A match that big could only happen at WrestleMania.”

The rumors of The Rock vs Roman Reigns match at WrestleMania have been swirling around for a long time now. It is being said this match could actually be the main event of WrestleMania 39 in April 2023.

Both men have talked about it in the media a few times. However, one problem with that match taking place is Dwyane Johnson’s busy schedule. Build-up to a match against Roman Reigns which would require atleast 2-3 months(and possibly more) of build-up. With lots of movies in pipeline and a big foray in DCEU with Black Adam, it seems hard that Rock to invest such amount of time in WWE.
