WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors- Asuka and Kairi Sane, were able to retain their titles against WWE RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at WWE TLC 2019 PPV.
After weeks of torment and frustration at the hands of Asuka and Kairi Sane, Becky and Charlotte got their hands on them from here. The two teams attack each other with all sorts of weapons, including the titular tables, ladders, and chairs. But it turned out that a rope, which Asuka pulled out from under the ring early on, proved to be the decisive weapon.
Midway through the match, Sane tied Becky with the rope around one of the ladders at the ringside. The same rope came in handy when Asuka pulled the same rope to clinch the ladder in order to prevent Becky from grabbing the tag team titles. Asuka also ended up using the same ladder to climb the ladder and win the match.
This is the second year in the row when Asuka stood tall on top of the ladder to bring down the title at the end of the WWE TLC event. Last year, Asuka won the triple threat ladder match against Becky and Charlotte to win the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship from Becky.
Later, Becky would challenge Asuka for the SD Women’s title at Royal Rumble 2019. And the same thing might turn out to happen this time around also with Asuka challenging Becky for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship.
WWE started building towards the match for Asuka and Becky Lynch at RAW after Hell in a Cell where Asuka pinned Lynch in a tag team match after spitting the Green Mist on her. Asuka also got into a feud with Charlotte at WWE Survivor Series where Asuka spat Green mist in Flair’s face, leading to Flair’s elimination from the match.
Charlotte and Asuka faced off in a singles match next night on RAW where Asuka once again used the Green Mist and won the match. Next week, Flair lost to The Kabuki Warriors in a handicap match. After Becky failed to win her handicap match against the Japanese pair, they decided to pair against them at WWE TLC.
