Welcome to the live blog for WWE SmackDown May 3, 2024 episode which will be live from Lyon, France, just a day before Backlash 2024 at the same venue. This SmackDown episode will be the first live televised show from WWE.
Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles, who will fight for Universal Championship at Backlash, will come face-to-face to hype the match. The first-ever RKO Show will be held with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens as the hosts. WWE Tag Team Championship will be on the line as A-Town Down Under take on The Street Profits. New Catch Republic and AOP will clash in another match.

RESULTS
We opened with images of Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles at the arena. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens were shown arriving to the arena together.
Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs Tiffy Stratton & Damage CTRL(Asuka, Kairi Sane & Dakota Kai)
An 8-Women Tag Team match is opening the show. Kairi starts against Naomi who takes down Kairi immediately. Bianca comes in, but Kairi blocks a body slam. Bianca hits a suplex. Asuka tries to interfere but gets thrown out. Bayley takes a blind tag from Bianca which leads to a brief argument. Tiffany tags in from the other side while Asuka pulled out Bianca to the floor to attack her. Tiffany catches Bayley off gaurd and slams her to the mat to take us to a break.
The heel team is still under control against Bayley. Tiffany sends Bayley to the corner and hits a handspring elbow. She hits an Alabama Slam off a cartwheel which forced Naomi to break the pinfall. Tiffany decks Jade as she was looking for a tag. She sends Bayley into Naomi to knock her off also. Bayley hits a German suplex on Tiffany. Bayley is having seconds thoughts on tagging in Bianca who is the only member of her team on the apron.
Jade comes up and tags in from Bayley. Jade bulldozes everyone with slams and suplexes. Bianca tags in and Jade drops her on top of Dakota. A mele starts with big moves from everyone. Bianca ends the match by hitting KOD on Dakota for the pinfall.
Winner – Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill
WWE Tag Team Champions A-Town Down Under(Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) cut a short promo backstage where they claim they are bringing smoke tonight.
Kayla Braxton interviews Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair in their green room. They claim to win WWE Women’s Tag Team title tomorrow while Naomi wins WWE Women’s title. Bayley and Naomi are also there in the room and Bayley did not like Bianca’s comments.
We see a footage of Carmelo Hayes getting drafted on SmackDown and facing Cody Rhodes last week. He is in Nick Aldis’ room and tells him that he wants to be in King of the Ring tournament. Bobby Lashley comes in and tells him to ask him if he needed anything. Carmelo boasts about facing Cody last week and he would not any help from Lashley. Lashley blocks him as he tries to get away. Lashley tells Carmelo to be careful who he is disrespecting.
New Catch Republic(Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate) vs AOP(Akam & Rezar)
Akam clotheslines Dunne to the floor. Dunne hits back with an enzuigiri before hitting a series of dropkicks. Bate tags in and hits running knee. Akam ran him over with a lariat. Bate fights back and puts Akam in a sleeper. New Catch Republic keep control for a while. Bate hits a flying elbow. Rezar throws Dunne out of the rig to take us to a break.
AOP are in control against Bate by cutting the ring in half. Rezar hits a suplex next. Bate counters another suplex with a dropkick. He fights off Rezar before tagging in Dunne. Dunne runs riott and cleared the ring. Bate tags back in and put Rezar in Airplane spin. Scarlett runs a distraction but Dunne still keeps up with the attack. He hits a suicide dive. Karrion Kross drops Bate on the floor. He cuts off Dunne’s dive before throwing him back into the ring. Rezar finishes off Dunne to get the pinfall.
Winner – AOP
Paul Heyman goes to Nick Aldis in his office. Aldis tells him that his request from earlier is denied. Heyman argues a bit and starts to go back. Heyman then comes back and reveals that he has hot spoken to Roman Reigns since WrestleMania. When Aldis questioned why he pulled Roman from the draft, Heyman replied that he can’t let Roman engage in all the chaos of the Bloodline right now.
The RKO Show
Randy Orton and Kevin Owens come out to the ring for The RKO show to a hero’s welcome. KO talks a bit in French to hype the crowd some more. KO then says they were not gonna have a guest on the show but Paul Heyman kept calling him and wanted to make an announcement on the show. Orton is not happy about Heyman. Heyman comes out and walks down to the ring. He says he comes out tonight as the undisputed wiseman of WWE with respect, admiration and wisdom.
Heyman stops in his tracks when Randy threatens to him with RKOs. “We Want Roman” chants start. Heyman says he wants Roman also. Heyman advises Randy and KO to not take the match against Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga. KO and Randy mock Heyman. Randy asks him who is the Real Tribal Chief. Heyman says there is only one true Tribal Chief. Solo and Tonga attacks KO & Randy from behind. The security tries to keep them separated. Randy put one of the security guards through the announce table. KO hit everyone with a dive to close the segment.
The Street Profits cut a promo hyping themselves up as the next tag team champions.
LA Knight vs Angel
Knight starts with a shoulder tackle. Angel hits somes punches before Knight hits a clothesline and a swinging neckbreaker. Angel rolls out to the floor. Knight follows him and drops haymaker on him before slamming his face on the apron several times. Knight hits a dropkick through the ropes. Knight takes him back to the ring and continues to be in control. He hits a suplex next to get a two-count and takes us to a break.
Knight is hitting chops as we return from the break. Angel hits a headbutt when Berto runs a distraction. Knight hits back with a flying clothesline. He hits a running knee in the corner. Knight knocks Berto off the apron when he gets up. Angel rolls up Knight for a two count. Knight quickly hit BFT to get the pinfall.
Winner – LA Knight
Knight takes the mic after the match. Santos Escobar interrupts him and tells him to stop running his mouth. The crowd gets behind Knight as he continues to insult Escobar before announcing his entry to King of the Ring.
Carlito gets interviewed backstage. He tells us how he was upset at Dragon Lee getting selected by Rey Mysterio for WrestleMania. Dragon Lee attacks Carlito who had to run away.
A-Town Down Under(Grayson Waller & Austin Theory)(c) vs The Street Profits(Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) – WWE Tag Team Championship
Some bait and switch from A-Town Down Under leads to them getting an upperhand against Dawkins after the bell. Dawkins quickly turns things around and drops Theory. The Street Profits continue to beat up Theory. Ford hits a rockbottom on Theory. Dawkins hits a senton on Theory from the top rope. Ford hits a suicide dive on ATDU on the floor. Waller comes in and gets beaten up some more by The Street Profits as we cut to a break.
Ford gets the tag and hits quick moves on Theory including a springboard dropkick. Dawkins tags in but Theory tags in Waller. Waller hits a springboard coast to coast dropkick on Dawkins for a near fall. Dawkins counters Theory’s finisher with a big tackle. The Street Profits hit blockbuster on Theory but Waller breaks the pin. Waller then hits a Flatliner behind the referee’s back. Theory gets the pinfall for the win.

Cody Rhodes & AJ Styles Face-toFace
AJ Styles came out to the ring before we cut to a break. WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes comes out for a segment with AJ. They hype their match at Backlash tomorrow with a war of words. With both of them being ex-members of The Bullet Club, Cody tries to end the segment with a “Too Sweet”. But AJ slaps him instead and leaves the ring.
We cut to backstage where Randy Orton and Kevin Owens are brawling with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga.
