WWE SmackDown episode of April 5, 2024, is going to be our sneek peak into WrestleMania 40 PLE once again and will feature several matches to take the storylines forward one more time. A brother vs brother clash is set between Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa where Solo is tasked with taking Jey out.
Andre The Giant Battle Royal is set to feature the likes of Ricochet, Andrade, Chad Gable and more. A singles match will see Zelina Vega take on Elektra Lopez. New Catch Republic and A-Town Down Under are clashing WrestleMania tag team showcase. Randy Orton will feature on the KO Show. RESULTS & UPDATES
The show opened with a special video package for WrestleMania featuring Meek Mill.
Kevin Owens hosted Randy Orton on the KO Show. They talked about their hatred for United States Champion Logan Paul. Logan interrupted as he appeared on the big screen from WrestleMania stage at Lincoln Financial Field. Orton and Owens got frustrated with Logan’s taunts and decided to go after Logan. They left the arena. Austin Theory and Grayson Waller followed them.
After the break, we see Orton and Owens hoping onto a golf cart to get to Lincoln Financial Field. Theory and Waller chased after them.
Bronson Reed won the Andre The Giant Battle Royal. Omos dominated the early part of the match and eliminated several wrestlers. He was ultimately eliminated in trying to eliminate The Creed Brothers. Reed, Ivar, Akira Tozawa, and Otis were the last four. Reed and Ivar sandwiched Tozawa between them with Thesz press. Otis attacked both of them before hitting The Caterpillar on Reed. Ivar threw him out for elimination. Ivar then threw Tozawa on top of Otis on the floor. Ivar missed a moonsault before Reed hit a rolling senton and hit a clotheslines to eliminate Ivar for the win.
Logan Paul had arrived at SmackDown at Wells Fargo Center while Orton and Owens went after him at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Final Testament appeared in a video promo where Karrion Kross led them to trash talk Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits.
Dragon Lee was attacked backstage. Carlito was the first one on the scene. Rey Mysterio and Zelina Vega also arrived on the scene and so did Nick Aldis and other officials. Mysterio and Zelina had to leave for Zelina’s match against Lopez.
Elektra Lopez defeated Zelina Vega in a singles match. Vega had Rey Mysterio in her corner while Santos Escobar, Dominik Mysterio and Andrade came out for Lopez. Vega hit Lopez with 619 and hammerlock DDT, but Dominik distracted the referee to stop the count. Lopez then hit Vega with a powerbomb to get the pinfall.
After the match, Escobar and Dominik attacked Rey Mysterio from behind. Andrade made a U-Turn and attacked them to save Rey.
Naomi and Bianca Belair came out to the ring. Bianca talked about having the longest history with Damage CTRL and how they dragged around her and Naomi since she came in. They added how Damage CTRL became cocky after being on the top for so long. They brought out Jade Cargill who fired a warning at Damage CTRL.
Backstage, Rey Mysterio and the company were informed that Dragon Lee would not be fit for WrestleMania. Andrade offered to be Rey’s tag team partner.
New Catch Republic(Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate) defeated A-Town Down Under(Grayson Waller & Austin Theory) in a tag team match after hitting Birmingham Hammer.
After the match, Judgment Day attacked New Catch Republic.
Next, we got a video package for the rivalry between Bayley and WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky.
LA Knight came out to the ring and talked about AJ Styles and their match at WrestleMania. He claimed that we would come to see at WrestleMania why it is his time.
The Pride(Bobby Lashley, The Street Profits & B-Fab) appeared in a video promo replying to the Final Testament ahead of their street fight at WrestleMania.
Jey Uso defeated Solo Sikoa in a singles match via disqualification after Jimmy Uso attacked.
After the match, Jimmy and Solo were beating up Jey. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins came out to help Jey. Solo was cleared from the ring before Seth sent Jimmy to Cody for a crossrhodes. Cody cut a short promo after this to claim that they would beat The Rock and Roman Reigns on Saturday before he would dethrone Roman on Sunday.
