WWE SmackDown Ratings- 4 September 2020: Down After Payback

This Friday’s WWE SmackDown averaged 2.129 million viewers in the final US TV ratings, holding steady when compared with the week earlier.

According to overnight ratings that Showbuzz Daily published on Saturday, hour one had 2.018 million viewers. The second hour, in anticipation for #1 contender for Roman Reigns, garnered around a hundred thousand more viewers as the number went up to 2.113 million.

As per final ratings, SmackDown topped the night in the 18-49 demographic with an average rating of 0.55. This is also down from last week’s 0.6. Last week, SmackDown had an average viewership of 2.181 million.

In overall viewership, SmackDown was at #6 for the night behind the likes of Shark Tank, 20/20, MacGyver, Blue Bloods, and Dateline NBC. 20/20 topped the night with an average of 2.791 million viewers.

This week’s SmackDown featured Roman Reigns/Paul Heyman address to WWE fans after winning WWE Universal Championship at Payback, a fatal 4-way #1 contender match, a Women’s tag team title match, WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley turning on her friend Sasha Banks among other things.

SmackDown has averaged 2.27 million viewers this year which is up from 2.164 million from 2019. However, between May to July, there were many weeks when the show failed to cross 2 million mark.

Update: Bayley and Sasha Banks angle averaged 2.32 million viewers according to Dave Meltzer which was the best audience for a segment on any wrestling show in months.
