WWE SmackDown Live Results & Updates- 3 January 2020
We see how Dolph Ziggler destroyed Otis’s cake that he presented to Mandy Rose last week. Rose approaches Otis and asks him if her mom has given her something new this week. Otis is still in a foul mood and tells Mandy to ask Ziggler. Rose apologizes for what happened last week. Tucker walks up and tells Otis to focus on their match. They walk off as Rose looks on.
Elias sings a new song for 2020. He mentions somethings about many SmackDown athletes like Sami Zayn, Shane McMahon and others. He calls Dolph Ziggler a comedy act and also says that nobody would miss Baron Corbin if he goes missing.
The commentary recaps the miracle on the 34th Street Fight where Heavy Machinery defeated the Revival. We cut to a backstage segment where The Revival were ranting about that match. They were talking about the New Year’s revolution when Shorty G comes around. He tells The Revival to find themselves or something and the Revival does not take it well. A match between Shorty G and Dash Wilder is fixed, which is next.
Dash Wilder vs Shorty G
They start off with a quick exchange. Gable hits a few suplexes but Wilder trips him on the top rope to deliver a back superplex for a two count. Gable hits a few uppercuts and a suplex. He takes himself and Wilder out of the ring with a running crossbody. Gable picks the leg for the Ankle Lock but Wilder counters and gets a two count. Gable eventually gets him in the Ankle Lock for the submission win.
Winner- Shorty G
Dawson attacks Gable after the match and The Revival hits The Shatter Machine. Sheamus’ music hits and he makes his way to the ring. He chases Wilder and Dawson out of the ring and then hits Gable with a Brogue Kick.
The Miz vs Kofi Kingston
They lock up and Miz takes Kofi down in a wristlock. Kingston counters and gets a quick two count. Kofi hits a big monkey flip and laughs at Miz. Miz refuses a handshake and knocks Kingston down with a running shoulder. Kofi avoids a basement dropkick and taunts Miz from the ring. Miz kicks him in the ribs and stomps on him a few times. He dodges Trouble in Paradise and hits the It Kicks in the corner. Miz avoids Trouble in Paradise again but Kofi rolls him up for the pin.
Winner- Kofi Kingston
Miz attacks Kofi after the bell but quickly rolls out as Big E comes into the ring. The fans start chanting “You Suck” and the Miz shouts back at them for a while, before heading to the back.
Cathy Kelly is in an interview backstage with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. Bryan tells us how people are mentally breaking because of The Fiend, but he’s the only one who hasn’t. He says he will win the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. Reigns says that means Bryan will be facing him at WrestleMania 36 since he is entering the Royal Rumble and winning it. Bryan says if Reigns is trying to fire him up, he will be ready at WrestleMania. But Roman should to ready for their match tonight.
After the break, Cathy Kelly is outside of the Miz’s locker room door for comments. She knocks and John Morrison answers the door, making his return to WWE. He does not make any comment and close the door back.
