WWE SmackDown Live Results & Updates- 21 February 2020
We get a promo for Roman Reigns vs Baron Corbin Steel Cage match for Super ShowDown. Corbin is with Kayla Braxton now. He tells us that Roman has never defeated him in a one-on-one match and that’s why they are stepping into a steel cage match. He claims that he will defeat Roman at Super ShowDown.
Moment of Bliss- Hall of Fame Edition with Bella Twins!
Alexa Bliss welcomes us to the special WWE Hall of Fame edition of A Moment of Bliss. She announces the Hall of Fame inductees announced for this year so far- Batista and nWO. She announces the next inductees- Nikki and Brie, The Bella Twins. They come out to cheers from the crowd and take their chairs. Bliss asks them how does it feel. Bellas thanks their hometown crowd and Bella Army for all this.
They also praise Bliss for being the first female talk show host in WWE. Brie brings up the twin pregnancies and the Bellas are happy to be at SmackDown to announce the HOF induction. As they were going back, Daniel Bryan makes his way out with her daughter. He embraces her wife Brie at the stage before heading to the ring with a loud “Yes!” chant.
Daniel Bryan vs Heath Slater
Slater pushes Bryan to intimidate him. Bryan tries to take him down right away in the LaBell lock. Slater grabs the ropes quickly. He works on Bryan’s leg which is apparently suggested by Drew Gulak. Gulak is on the commentary. Bryan gets some strikes going in the ring before Slater once again starts working on Bryan’s leg.
Slater goes to the top and Gulak keeps on shouting at him not to do it. Slater goes for the splash but nobody is home. Bryan gets the Yes kicks going and gets ready for the running knee. Gulak is saying that Bryan is wasting time in trying to get the crowd into “Yes” chants. Slater dodges the running knee and rolls up Bryan for two-count. Bryan hits the running knee and gets the pin.
Winner- Daniel Bryan
We see Mandy Rose at the gate with all her luggage. Dolph Ziggler comes to her and asks what she is upto. Mandy is waiting for a car and Ziggler offers to drive her. They leave the arena. Otis was watching all this from behind the production crates.
Naomi vs Carmella – #1 Contender Match For SmackDown Women’s Championship
Naomi takes Carmella down to the mat as they do the handshake to start the match. Carmella fights free from a headlock. Naomi with a back elbow as Bayley is watching the match from outside. Naomi with a backslide for a 2 count. Naomi counters out of the corner and hits a running low clothesline for a 2 count. More back and forth and pin attempts with counters as they tangle on the mat.
Carmella comes back and sends Naomi flying with the head scissors. Carmella tosses Naomi out to the floor. Carmella runs for a suicide dive but Naomi meets her at the ropes with a kick to the face. Naomi fights back in and hits a crossbody for a close 2 count. Naomi goes to the second rope but Bayley distracts from the apron. Carmella takes advantage and slams Naomi to the mat for another close pin attempt. Naomi goes to the floor for a breather. Bayley trash talks Naomi in her face as fans boo her. The referee ejects Bayley to the back. Bayley throws a fit at ringside as the boos continue. Carmella takes advantage of the distraction at ringside, running the ropes to nail a dive on Naomi. Carmella stands over Naomi on the outside as we go back to commercial.
