MITB Qualifiers WWE RAW

WWE RAW episode of May 29, 2023, the Memorial Day edition, started the build-up towards Money in the Bank 2023 event and we were here with complete results from the show.

Money in the Bank Ladder match qualifiers were set to start on this show. Bronson Reed vs Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Miz vs Ricochet were the two qualifier matches from men’s division. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins appeared on the show fresh after winning the title at Night of Champions. What did the future of RAW hold with Rollins as the champion?

New women’s tag team champions were to be crowned via fatal 4-way match. One-half of the last champions Raquel Rodriguez had a new partner in Shotzi. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, Damage CTRL’s Bayley & Iyo Sky, and Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville were the other 3 teams in the match.

RESULTS

  • Ricochet defeated The Miz in Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier via pinfall.
  • Indus Sher(Veer & Sanga) defeated Enhancement Talent in a tag team match via pinfall.
  • Imperium(Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci) defeated Alpha Academy(Chad Gable & Otis) in a tag team match via pinfall.
  • Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler defeated Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi, Damage CTRL(Bayley & Iyo Sky) & Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville in a 4-way tag team match via pinfall to retain WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
  • JD McDonagh vs Dolph Ziggler ended in a double countout.
  • Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Bronson Reed in Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier via pinfall.
  • Seth Rollins & AJ Styles defeated Judgment Day(Finn Balor & Damian Priest) in a tag team match via pinfall.

Seth Rollins is World Heavyweight Champion!

Seth Rollins comes out through the crowd like his Shield entrance. He seems thrilled… The crowd seranates him. Rollins welcomes us to the show and repeats that he is the visionary, the revolutionary Seth Freakin’ Rollins. “You Deserve It” chants from the crowd. Seth then says he is the World Heavyweight Champion. There have been a lot of lows and highs, but standing here as the champion feels right. Rollins now wants to talk about the future because after a long time RAW has champion who is here willing to fight.

He says he is ready to fight because the result will be same whoever tries, which is him standing here and the world singing his song. AJ Styles’ music hits and he comes out to the ring. AJ says he is on SmackDown but he could not resist coming to RAW to congratulate Rollins. He gave his all in the ring, but it was as if Seth knew what was coming. AJ says while the crowd says he deserves it, but Seth has earned the right to be the World Heavyweight Champion. Seth replies that he is not good at this, but AJ has earned this after the beating he gave him at Night of Champions. They shake hands.

Judgment Day make their entrance. Finn Balor says this is making him feel like puking. Damian Priest says they are here to do what they do every week. Rhea says they run Monday Night RAW. They claim to be the ones running the entire WWE after the implosion of The Bloodline. Rhea tells Seth not to be too comfortable with the title as any of Judgment Day can beat him… Huge boos when they say it could be Dominik. Seth and AJ laugh at their face. A challenge is issued and Seth accepts it almost in disgust.


Adam Pearce is backstage talking to someone on the call discussing AJ being a SmackDown star and his match being on RAW. Rollins and AJ are arguing near him. Rollins tells Pearce to not embarras him on his first night as champion. Pearce confirms with AJ if he has his gear. AJ says he is a professional and definitely has his gear. Pearce then makes the match official.

The Miz vs Ricochet – Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier

Ricochet escapes early attacks but Miz catches him with a knee strike to midsection. Ricochet ducks another knee and hits an enzuigiri. He kicks Miz off the apron and hits a moonsault on the floor. Miz hits a hurricanrana before a boot right to Ricochet’s face. Ricochet rolls to the floor. Miz slams him on the announce table. Miz hits a double ax handle from the top rope after taking Ricochet back to the ring. We cut to a break.

Miz nails a big left before a springboard crossbody to get a two-count. Ricochet blocks Miz’s kick before nailing him with a running kick himself. He slams Miz’s head into the turnbuckle. Miz tries to counter with Skull Crushing Finale but Ricochet blocks it. Miz takes Ricochet down from the top into double knees and follows immediately by a DDT for a close two-count. Ricochet counters Skull Crushing Finale with a sunset flip. Ricochet nails a kick to his head before dropping him with sliced bread. Ricochet hits shooting star press to get the pinfall.

Thank You, Trish!

Trish Stratus is in the ring. She mocks the crowd for “thank you Trish” chants. She says she told us so in regards to beating Becky Lynch. Now, Becky can crawl into her hole and go through her stuff so that real superstars can have their time in spotlight. Trish says she did not need help at Night of Champions but Zoey was willing to help her. Zoey Stark makes her entrance. They hug in the ring to invite some boos. Zoey says she is here to make a statement and who is there to learn from other than the best. She could have taken a long hard road like Becky but she went with the other option of learning from Trish. She says, “Thank You, Trish”. Trish says if Becky shows her face once again, she will let her friend Zoey show her what’s up.

Becky Lynch’s music hits and she comes out in the same kill bill costume as Night of Champions. Becky says she will destroy her life. She then asks Trish to face her one-on-one as they are both in their ring gear. Zoey meets Becky on the ramp but Becky runs her over with a big shot. Becky hits a flying shoulder tackle on Trish in the ring. Zoey attacks her from behind. Zoey and Trish beat up Becky and Zoey hits her with Z-360. Zoey puts her “Thank You, Trish” on top of Becky to send the segment.

Indus Sher(Veer & Sanga) vs Enhancement Talent

Veer and Sanga attack their opponents as they were arguing before the match. One of the opponents is thrown out to the floor. The other one is thrown to the corner by Veer before the bell ring. Veer runs him over once again. Sanga tags in for a running boot while Veer holds up the opponent. Sanga throws this opponent to his corner and pulls in the other one. Sanga hits a sidewalk slam before they hit their finisher to get the pinfall.

We get a recap of how The Bloodline imploded at Night of Champions.

Tag Champs & Imperium!

Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens come out to the ring. Sami says they won at Night of Champions… They did not only retain their titles but they won as the Bloodline has crumbled. Sami says Roman can be the champion for 1000 more days, main event next 5 WrestleManias but when he see their faces, he will remember them for the rest of his life.

Imperium interrupts them. Kaiser says Owens and Sami’s win was impressive but the most impressive win belonged to Intercontinental Champion Gunther. Owens goes on a rampage telling Imperium that they can’t just come out anytime. Sami has to calm him down. Sami asks Imperium why are they here after they have already defeated Imperium in a trios match last week. Owens says he has never heard the bald one, Giovanni Vinci, say anything and would like to get his thoughts on things of if Imperium is embarrassed of him talking.

Kaiser replies that Matt Riddle is an embarrassment and Owens and Sami being champions is an embarrassment. Alpha Academy come out to the stage with Maxinne Dupri. Chad Gable shooshes Kaiser and says Alpha Academy are here to teach Imperium a lesson or too. Owens asks Gable to close it down with his catchphrase. Gable throws out a “Thank Youuu” as we cut to a break.

Alpha Academy(Chad Gable & Otis) & Imperium(Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci)

Sami and Owens are at the commentary table. Kaiser starts with a shoulder tackle. Gable replies with a side headlock takedown. They counter with pin attempts. Kaiser nails a body shot and an uppercut in the corner. Gable hits an armdrag on Kaiser and a leg scissors takedown on Vinci before a two for one shot on Imperium. Gable gets a fist bump from Maxinne on the floor before Valhalla appears.

Maxinne ducks Valhalla a couple of times before hitting her with a roundhouse kick. Maxinne runs away to the back when Valhalla chases her down in anger. Kaiser attacks Gable from behind as he gets distracted. Kaiser throws him to his corner and Vinci hits him with a drive by dropkick. Imperium with some quick tags to keep Gable under control. Gable fights out of the corner and hits a German suplex on Kaiser. Vinci blocks a tag out but Gable throws him out.

Otis gets the hot tag and hits tackles on both opponents before a Thesz press. He hits a body slam on Vinci before a corner splash on Kaiser. Otis hits caterpillar elbow drop on Kaiser, only for Vinci to break the pin. Gable tags in and Alpha Academy go for their finisher. Vinci uses a low bridge to send Otis to the floor. Kaiser rolls up Gable for a pin attempt. Gable kicks him away but Kaiser tags in Vinci. Imperium double team on Gable and hit him with Imperium Bomb to get the pinfall.

Winner – Imperium

Raquel and Shotzi are interviewed at Gorilla Position but Bayley and Iyo Sky come in. Bayley says Raquel and Shotzi are not a real team and Raquel would have taken first person raising her hand as her tag team partner. Raquel says Bayley is the only one in the group to not win gold since the group was formed and cites it as the source of her frustration.


We get a video package for Candice LeRae.

Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi vs Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler vs Damage CTRL(Bayley & Iyo Sky) vs Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Raquel starts against Chelsea but Chelsea tags in Bayley. Raquel tackles Bayley. Bayley tags in Iyo before taking a cheap shot at Raquel. Iyo blocks a move and hits a dropkick. Bayley tags in. Raquel hits a slam on Bayley. Bayley tags in Chelsea who easily gets manhandled by Raquel. Chelsea tags Iyo. All of this leads to Damage CTRL, Sonya and Chelsea being thrown to the floor and Shotzi hitting them with a dive to take us to a break.

Back and forth action continued after the break. In the end, Shotzi’s dive gets caught by Ronda into an armbar for the submission.

JD McDonagh vs Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler rushes JD with quick shots in the corner. He misses a corner splash as JD steps away. JD hits a suplex before throwing Ziggler to the floor and onto the announce table. JD then drives Ziggler into the steel steps. The referee was counting down and calls for the match while JD continues to beat up Ziggler on the floor.

Results – Double Countout

JD kicks at Ziggler’s face on top of steel steps. He continues to boot Ziggler’s face into the steps.

Cody’s Open Challenge!

Cody Rhodes comes out. He says he lost his match against Brock Lesnar due to referee’s stoppage. His contemporaries told him that he was foolish to fight Brock Lesnar with a hand broken and then to not tap out. Cody says he did not tap out because he is not that kind of person. He brings up Cena’s Never Give Up motto. He addresses Brock saying that he may have taken his annual break now, but they are at 1-1 now and Brock should consider it an open challenge. Cody says he will post his complete schedule for the next month of every event he will be at, and Brock can come to face him. Cody goes on to list Brock’s accomplishments but ends it by saying that he can safely conclude that Brock is afraid of him.


Matt Riddle is backstage and is excited about his Money in the Bank match qualifier in a couple of weeks. Gunther interrupts him and says he hopes Riddle win the MITB briefcase and cash it in on Gunther. Gunther says it would be fun because himiliating and beating Riddle is fun for him. Gunther leaves and Riddle is left stunned and amused.

Bronson Reed vs Shinsuke Nakamura – Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier

Back and forth start before Reed takes control. Reed whips Nakamura whips from corner to corner. Nakamura comes back with a back elbow and Pele kick. He sets up Reed for sliding German suplex but Reed holds onto the ropes to block it. Nakamura has to trip Reed on the ropes. He hits a stomp on the apron to takes us to a break.

Nakamura and Reed are fighting with punches as we return. Nakamura takes him down with hurricanrana to get a two-count. Reed drops him with a clothesline for a two-count. Nakamura sets him on the second ropes and manages to hit slidng German suplex this time. Reed runs over Nakamura with tackle and then hits a senton. Nakamura trips him on the top rope and hits a kick. He jumps from the top but Reed hits him with a kick midair. Reed hits a powerslam.

Nakamura moves out of Tsunami and hits a running knee on the back of his head. Nakamura hits a kinshasa and Reed rolls to the floor. The referee starts a countdown. Nakamura goes to the floor and hits a jumping knee. Nakamura returns to the ring and the referee starts the countdown again. Reed beats the countdown but Nakamura catches him with another kinshasa to get the pinfall.

Winner – Shinsuke Nakamura

Seth Rollins & AJ Styles vs Judgment Day(Finn Balor & Damian Priest)

Dominik teases being in the match and starts against Rollins. Balor attacks Rollins from behind as the bell rings. Balor with a couple of stomps before tagging in Priest. Rollins slips to the floor to avoid more attacks and poses with Rhea, who thought it was Dom Dom sitting beside him. Rollins gets back to the ring after surprising Rhea. Rollins hits punches and chops on Priest as he gets back to the ring. He jumps off the second rope but Priest catches him with an uppercut. Balor mocks Rollins by singing his theme but the crowd joins in to cheer up Rollins as Priest beats him up.

Priest keeps Rollins under control with some quick moves before putting in. Rollins breaks free and kicks Priest away. Balor and AJ get the tag. AJ knocks off Priest from the apron before a shot at Balor and a clothesline. He hits a leg sweep into backbreaker before Priest comes in. Rollins hits a knee to Priest’s back. Balor knocks Seth to the floor. Priest gets a blind tags. AJ is sent to the apron by Balor but he nails Balor with a forearm. Dominik tries to interfere and AJ goes to the floor to deal with him. Priest throws AJ over the announce table to take us to a break.

AJ tries to fight back after the break but Priest sends him to his corner. AJ hits a back elbow on Balor, only for Priest to nail him with a big shot. AJ is thrown to the floor where Rhea picks him up. Rollins stops Dominik and throws him into the ring. The referee boots Rhea and Dominik to the back. AJ rolls up Priest for a two-count. Tags to Balor and Seth. Seth runs in hot with some quick action against Balor. He knocks Priest off the apron and then hits a knee dive.

Back to the ring, Rollins hits a slingblade. Balor plays possum as the crowd gets behind Rollins. Balor hits an inverted DDT. He tags in Priest. Priest knocks AJ off the apron. Seth blocks a chokeslam but Priest puts him down with a lariat for a two-count. Rollins hits a superplex after Balor takes a blind tag. Priest blocks falcon arrow and hits broken arrow himself. Balor goes for Coupe de Grace but Rollins rolls away and hits a superkick. Tags to AJ and Priest now. AJ hits a Peke kick on Priest. Priest sends AJ to the corner and then to the apron.

AJ kicks Balor away and Rollins follows it up with a suicide dive on Balor on the floor. Priest ducks The Phenomenal Forearm and hits Razor’s Edge. Rollins breaks the pin with the stomp. AJ tags in Rollins who hits another stomp to get the pinfall.
