WWE NXT Results June 28, 2022, Live Coverage
WWE NXT 2.0 episode of June 28, 2022, will be the last episode before Great American Bash Special. The show will feature a #1 contender match for NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter will battle Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez for a shot at Toxic Attraction’s tag titles. Sanga will try to put Xyon Quinn in his place as he faces him in a singles match. Indi Hartwell will try to teach Kiana James that wrestling is more than numbers and facts. Ikemen Jiro will face Giovanni Vinci.

Katana Chance & Kayden Carter vs Cora Jade & Roxanne Perez – #1 contender for NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Jade and Carter start the match. Carter counters arm wrench with a waist lock. Carter hits an arm drag before they trade shots. Carter gets better of that exchange. Katana tags in and drops Jade to get a two-count. A springboard crossbody from Katana. Jade sends her into the corner and Katana hits her with a back elbow. Jade comes back with an uppercut, a dropkick and a running uppercut. Perez tags in and hits a couple of uppercuts. She hits an armdrag and puts on an armlock. Jade tags in and pulls Katana to the mat by her arm.
Perez tags in again and hits another arm drag into an armlock. Katana hits a big boot. Carter takes a blind tag and nails Perez with another kick. More tags between Carter and Chance. Perez counters by dropping Chance onto the ropes. Perez and Jade hit dropkicks quickly before Chance counters a double suplex. Both teams face off. Both Katana and Carter are sent to the floor. Carter comes back in and hits a tackle to drop Perez. Chance pulls Jade from the apron to take us to the break.
Carter puts Perez in a Boston Crab. She changes to a single leg and brings in Chance, who also puts on Boston Crab. Perez counters with a roll-up to get a two-count. Jade tags in and hits elbows and a hurricanrana. Jade knocks off Chance before hitting an enzuigiri on Carter. They trade shots and both women are down. Perez tags in and Carter nails her with pump kick. Chance goes for a splash as Carter holds Perez. Jade pulls Carter out of the ring. Perez counters with Code Red on Chance to get the pin.
Winners – Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade
Joe Gacy and The Dayds are with The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile. Gacy says he is ready to accept them if Roderick Strong does not appreciate them. Julius shuts them down before Strong comes in and says Diamond Mine is the strongest family in NXT. It comes down to a tag team match between Diamond Mine and Joe Gacy & The Dayds.
Toxic Attraction are backstage. Gigi Dolin says if Perez and Jade put up the same performanc as tonight, there is no way they are winning against them. Jacy Jayne points out that they have beaten friends, frenemines and enemines before. Rose says Perez should have just cashed in her Breakout tournament contract for a tag title shot. Nikkita Lyons comes in and says she is ready for a match tonight.
Ikemen Jiro vs Giovanni Vinci
Vinci pushes Jiro to the corner after a lockup. Vinci puts on arm wrench. Jiro counters with an arm wrench of his own. Vinci brings him down and walks over him. Jiro hits a couple of punches before Vinci hits a German Suplex. Vinci hits big chops in the corner now. Jiro hits back with rolling elbows, nails a gamengiri, but misses a springboard moonsault. Vinci hits a tornado DDT now. Vince hits a big powerbomb to get the pin.
Winner – Giovanni Vinci
Carmelo Hayes is backstage with Trick Williams. Hayes lists out things to become “A” champion and claims to be an exceptional talent. Grayson Waller comes in and plays down Hayes using a brass knuckle to beat Tony D’Angelo last week. Waller gets a bunch of stuff signed from Hayes.
Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen make their entrance with Fallon Henley. They hype up their UK tag team titles. Jensen recalls how Briggs asked him to team up seeing his potential, and thanks him for that. They hug for a while. Their celebration is interrupted by Pretty Deadly, who could not believe that Briggs & Jensen are the new UK tag team champions. Pretty Deadly remind all that they held those titles for 287 days. Briggs says they will be fighting champions both here in NXT and in NXT UK. Jensen starts a brawl and they throw out Pretty Deadly to the floor.
We get a video package for Bron Breakker before it is announced that he will come face to face with Cameron Grimes tonight.
Carter and Chance are in women’s locker room and are venting their frustration of losing their match earlier.
Indi Hartwell vs Kiana James
Indi puts on an armwrench. James turns it around. Indi counters with a waistlock. James pulls herself to the ropes. Indi hits her with a few armdrags before missing one. Another armdrag from Indi before putting on arm lock. James drops her on the ropes. She stomps on Indi before hitting a tackle in the corner. James works on her arm for a while. Hartwell fights out and hits tackles and punches. A big uppercut gets her a two-count. James kicks her away. Indi nails a punch from the apron before missing an elbow drop. James uses the ropes to get the pin.
Winner – Kiana James
We see Tony D’Angelo and 2 Dime apparantly taking of Troy Donovan’s body. Tony says Donovan has backstabbed him. Santos Escobar calls Tony and mocks him for losing the title match. Tony throws away his phone in anger and says he has had it with this guy.
Wes Lee cuts a promo against Trick Williams before their match at Great American Bash.
Diamond Mine(Roderick Strong, Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) vs Joe Gacy & The Dayds
Gacy starts against Strong. Strong has him in armwrench which gets countered into a headlock by Gacy. Gacy hits a shoulder tackle before Strong brings her on a waistlock. Dayd 1 tags in. Strong hits him with a armdrag. Brutus tags in and Dayd 1 nails him with some shots. Brutus hits a German suplex on him. Julius comes in and drops Brutus on top on Dayd 1. They work on Dayd 1 for a while.
Dayd 1 slips to the floor and gets control over Julius as he returns. Dayd 2 tags in to hit a clothesline. Gacy comes in and work more on Julius. Dayd 1 is back in and runs over Julius with another clothesline when he tries to fight back. Julius goes for a suplex when all 6 men get into the ring. Diamond Mine hit suplexes on all three opponents. Gacy are team are thrown to the floor before we cut to a break.
Brutus hits a suplex on Gacy. Dayd distracts Brutus and Gacy hits him with a chop block. Gacy hits big shots and chops on Brutus. Gacy and Dayd continue to work on Brutus. Gacy hits an Urinage to get a two-count. Dayd comes in again and stops Brutus from a tag. He hits a neckbreaker to get a two-count. Brutus fights back finally and tags in Julius.
Julius hits suplexes and throws on all the opponents. Roderick Strong takes a blind tag and nails Dayd with a rising knee. This starts an argument between Diamond Mine. Brutus saves Strong from a tackle from Gacy. Dayds change their position. They hit a double team DDT on Strong to get the pin.
Winners – Joe Gacy & the Dayds
Carmelo Hayes is told about his title defense against Grayson Waller next week. Hayes says he does not know about any match. They realize that Waller got Hayes to sign a contract under the pretext of autographs.
We see how Lash Legends attacked Alba Fyre with a baseball bat during their match. We are suppossed to get a medical update on Fyre but Legends cut if off and says Fyre is never coming back. Legends warns the whole women locker room.
Sanga and Quinn are brawling on the ramp. We cut to a break.
Diamond Mine are backstage. Roderick Strong is ranting on Creed Brothers. They reply that they follow him but he still points finger at them. Strong challenges them for a tag title match with Damon Kamp as his partner.
Sanga vs Xyon Quinn
Quinn takes a cheap shot at Sanga. Sanga hits him back with punches. Sanga hits a shoulder tackle before slamming him into the corner. Quinn slips out to the floor. He catches Sanga on the apron after Sanga throw him back in. Sanga hulks up and drops Quinn. He drops Quinn on the turnbuckles a couple of times. More big shots from Sanga before he hits an elbow drop.
Quinn puts on a chinlock. Sanga tries to break free and Quinn chops down on him before putting it on again. Sanga gets up on his feet and fights out of the chinlock. Sanga hits some quick moves. A bit of back forth before Sanga hits a chokeslam to get the pin.
Winner – Sanga
Nikkita Lyons vs Mandy Rose
A lock up to start the match. Lyons hits a calf kick. She tackles Rose to the corner and then throws her across the ring. A couple of corner splashes from Lyons. Rose slips to the floor to take us to a break.
Lyons is trying to get the control back but Rose catches her leg again. During the break, Lyons was sent into the steel steps by Dolin and Jayne. Lyons puts on the arm triangle but Rose reaches the ropes quickly. Rose hits a missile dropkick. Lyons avoids a jumping knee and hits her with a back elbow. A chest kick, corner splash and a German suplex from Lyons to get a two-count. Lyons hits more kicks until Jayne and Dolin attacks her to cause a DQ.
Winner – Nikkita Lyons(by DQ)
Toxic Attraction continue to attack Lyons after the match. Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez runs out to make the save.
Solo Sikoa is talking to Apollo Crews about his loss to Grayson Waller last week. Crews tells him not to be disheartened and that he is something special. Xyon Quinn comes in and tells Crews that a lot has changed since Crews was here last time, and that he is a real WWE superstar. Crews replies that his future does not look bright from where he stands.
Breakker & Grimes Face-Off
Wade Barrett brings out NXT Champion Bron Breakker and then his challenger next week, Cameron Grimes. Bron says Grimes is different from other challengers as he has nothing to lose. Grimes replies that if Breakker loses, he will probably be called up to RAW or SmackDown, but if he loses, that will be it for him. So, he is putting all of his chisp on company’s biggest prize. Grimes says he doesn’t have a back up plan, but Breakker knows about backup plans as he came to NXT after failing in football.
Breakker says Grimes can smile all he wants, but he will be speared in half next week and will keep knocking him down until he regrets taking up the match. And when he is done, Grimes would have to run back to Ted DiBiase to stay relevant. Grimes says Breakker may be faster, stronger, bigger, but he does not have a heart. Grimes takes shot at his father also not having heart and it being the reason that he never won a world title.
Breakker attacks Grimes and goes for a military press. Grimes slips out and sends him into the turnbuckle. He sends Breakker into the turnbuckle again and the ring breaks. Breakker’s bicep is hurt. Grimes tells him that he might not beat him at 100%, but he is not 100% now. He tells medics to treat Breakker so that he could lose the title next week. The show goes off the air.
