WWE NXT August 29: Steel Cage Match, #1 Contender & More Set
WWE NXT has officially announced three matches for August 29, 2023, episode of NXT, including a steel cage match and a #1 contender match for the NXT Women’s Championship.
During the NXT Heatwave 2023 event, Ivy Nile defeated Ava Raine in a singles match. Later in the show, Raine was present backstage under the Schism Tree with two masked followers as she called out Nile.
The unexpected twist occurred when Raine instructed the two masked individuals to launch an attack, but they refused. Subsequently, it was revealed that these masked individuals were Julius and Brutus Creed. After the reveal, the Creed Brothers issued a challenge to face The Dyad (Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler) in a steel cage match.
Creed Brothers also added a stipulation that if they win, they will secure their return to NXT. On July 4 NXT episode, The Dyad defeated The Creed Brothers in a loser leave NXT match.
A #1 contender match for the NXT Women’s Championship is also set for the next week’s episode of NXT, where Roxanne Perez, Blair Davenport, Kiana James, and Gigi Dolin will clash in a Fatal 4-way match. The winner will face Tiffany Stratton for the WWE NXT Women’s title.
During the NXT Heatwave 2023 event, Tiffany Stratton made a statement asserting her ambition to become the greatest NXT Women’s Champion. Subsequently, Roxanne Perez, Blair Davenport, Kiana James, and Gigi Dolin individually approached her.
They confronted Stratton, expressing their desire for a title opportunity. This confrontation escalated into a brawl involving all four women. Later on, NXT confirmed the bout for the next week’s NXT episode, where Stratton will get her new opponent.
NXT Heritage Global Invitational Tournament is also set for next week’s episode of NXT, where the winner of the tournament will face Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup Championship at WWE NXT No Mercy 2023 PPV event.
