WWE Hall of Fame is maintained by WWE(earlier WWF) as it honors legendary wrestlers and celebrities from the entertainment industry.

WWE Hall of Fame was established in the year 1993 with Andre The Giant as the first wrestler to be inducted. The Hall of Fame Inductions ceremonies were held from 1994 to 1996 with different PPV events. From 2004 onwards, the induction ceremony has become a separate event held in the same week as WrestleMania.

As of this writing, a total of 236 inductees are there in WWE Hall of Fame. Out of those, 126 are individual wrestlers, 18 groups(stables/tag teams) inductions(51 wrestlers in total), 46 Legacy award winners, 9 Warrior Award Winners and 12 celebrities.

WWE Hall of Fame Award Categories

The various award categories are as below:

  • Individual– This category includes Individual wrestlers(stars) with noteworthy careers in WWE(or in WWE-purchased promotions).
  • Groups- This category includes the tag teams/groups/stables.
  • Celebrities- This category includes celebrities from other fields, who had some significant appearances in WWE or were used as a special attraction.
  • Warrior Awards- This category is named after The Ultimate Warrior who first called upon WWE to induct WWE employees into Hall of Fame. From 2015 onwards, WWE is giving Warrior awards to acknowledge other unsung heroes among WWE’s employees and fans. However, this category is not presented on wwe.com’s official Hall of Fame gallery.
  • Legacy Awards- This category includes wrestlers, promoters and other performers from several eras of wrestling history, going back to the early 20th century. The Induction for this category is carried by video packages only.

WWE Hall of Fame 2021 ceremony inducted the Hall of Famers from both 2020 and 2021 years. the 2020 ceremony was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 ceremony was a pre-taped event which took place without any fans in attendance and aired later on 6 April 2021. This was the 21st WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Fans joined the event via WWE Thunderdome.

Kane, Molly Holly, the Great Khali, Rob Van Dam and Eric Bischoff are inducted as part of 2021 Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame Ceremony for the year 2020 was supposed to take place on 2nd April but the event had to be postponed in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. 2020 inductees were inducted in the 2021 ceremony. The ceremony was supposed to induct the superstars like Dave Batista, NWO, Bella Twins, JBL, The British Bulldog and Japanese Legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger. Batista asked to be inducted at a later date as he was unable to join the ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions.

WWE Hall of Fame 2014 was the 15th WWE Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. This became the first HOF ceremony to be aired live on WWE Network. A total of 6 WWE Superstars were inducted in the ceremony. Mr. T was also inducted as the celebrity induction.

The Ultimate Warrior was the headliner in Inductee and announced that he has signed an ambassador contract with WWE. However, Warrior passed away just three days after the ceremony. Following his death, the WWE created the Warrior Award, with the first award given at the 2015 Hall of Fame ceremony.

WWE Hall of Fame 2013 was the 14th WWE Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. A total of 5 WWE Superstars were inducted in the ceremony. The headliner Inductee was Bruno Sammartino, who remained a harsh critic of WWE until some time ago. Donald Trump was inducted under the Celebrity category for his role in WrestleMania 4, 5 and 23.

During his speech at the ceremony, Mick Foley said that only regret he has in his career is that he never defeated Chris Jericho. Jericho then ran onto the stage and laid down for the pin. After some theatrics, Foley hit an elbow drop on Jericho and pinned him, with CM Punk counting to three.
