WWE to Hold Draft in October after SmackDown to Fox Move

WWE is likely to hold their next Draft in October after Smackdown will move to Fox Network on Friday Nights.

WWE Draft 2019

WWE replaced their annual draft to Superstar Shakeup from 2017 which use to manage the transfers of WWE superstars from one brand to another. This year’s Superstar Shakeup took place on 15-16 April episodes of RAW and SmackDown. However, this year’s shakeup was a messy affair as many wrestlers were moving between the brands for weeks to come.

The draft has generally been an annual affair but as per the latest rumors, WWE might hold another draft once SmackDown starts airing on Fox network. As per Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com and John Pollock of POST Wrestling, the two-night Draft is scheduled to begin on Friday, 11 October SmackDown episode from Las Vegas, which will be the second SmackDown Fox episode. And it will then wrap on the October 14 RAW in Denver.

The 2019 Draft is part of a series of moves from WWE in order to freshen up the RAW and SmackDown shows. There will be some other changes being discussed which will help freshen up the shows. A few weeks back, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE officials have been working on a new Draft concept to build to permanent red and blue brand rosters. However, the changes would not be major ones and only a few superstars will move between the brands.

The new draft might also see NXT being part of the process which would establish it as WWE’s third brand rather than the developmental territory that it has been working until now. It was also reported that plans are being kept quiet as USA Network and Fox representatives will be the first ones to know when the new concept of Draft is decided on.
