WWE Announces World Heavyweight Tournament Particiapants

WWE has revealed 12 names which will be part of the tournament to crown the inaugural World Heavyweight Championship.

6 superstars/wrestlers each from RAW and SmackDown will take part in a tournament which will take place over this week’s RAW and SmackDown episodes and the final at Night of Champions will crown the first champion in the new World Heavyweight Championship lineage.

Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, The Miz, Shinsuke Nakamura and Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest are announced from RAW side for this tournament. These 6 stars will clash in two set of triple threat matches on RAW May 8 episode. The winner from these two matches will clash in the main event of RAW.

Similarly, AJ Styles, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley and Sheamus are going to clash in two triple-threat matches on Smackdown side. The winner of these two matches will clash in the main event. The winner of these two main events will clash at Night of Champions 2023 on May 27.

Regardless of whether the final winner will be from RAW or SmackDown, the title will remain exclusive to RAW brand going forward. Undisputed WWE Universal Championship remains on SmackDown with the reigning champion Roman Reigns.
