Report: Update on Nick Aldis WWE Contract Situation
An update has come out regarding the contractual situation of Nick Aldis, the newly appointed SmackDown General Manager in WWE.
Fightful Select has verified that Nick Aldis was on a trial basis in WWE until this week while working backstage for WWE as a producer for the past couple of months. However, he has now officially signed with WWE.
Even during his time working backstage at WWE, Aldis was regarded as a free agent and continued to compete at independent wrestling events. Nick Aldis participated in his most recent match just six days prior to the October 13 episode, when he took part in the ACW Bluegrass Con event on October 7.
Fightful Select has confirmed that Nick Aldis officially signed with WWE this week.

The talk backstage at WWE is that Aldis has been easy to work with and willing to make the most of the WWE opportunity. It is also being said that he was eager to make that work in whatever role he was given.
WWE behind-the-scenes staff had a conversation with Fightful Select regarding their high regard for Nick Aldis, commending his enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and laid-back demeanor. Currently, Adam Pearce serves as the RAW general manager, while Nick Aldis holds the position of SmackDown general manager.
Fightful also reported that prior to WWE hiring Pearce, the company had considered the possibility of bringing back MVP for the position. However, MVP chose an on-screen manager role, notably with the Hurt Business.
