Tony Nese Gets Cruiserweight Title Match At Extreme Rules
Tony Nese will get a chance to reclaim WWE Cruiserweight Championship in the match against Drew Gulak at Extreme Rules 2019 show.
The WWE Cruiserweight Championship match was part of the pre-show at Stomping Grounds 2019 last Sunday. Drew Gulak pinned Akira Tozawa in a triple threat match to become the new Cruiserweight Champion. Tony Nese was also a part of the match but was taken out when Gulak pinned Tozawa.
This week at 205 Live, a no. 1 contender’s match took place between Tony Nese and Akira Tozawa with the winner challenging Gulak at Extreme Rules. After a typically good match, Tony Nese hit a belly-to-back Piledriver to pin Tozawa. Afterward, they shared a moment of respect in the ring as Tozawa gave a hug to Nese.
Tony Nese won the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania after defeating Buddy Murphy. He successfully defended the title against Ariya Daivari at Money in the Bank. The fatal 4-way to choose Nese’s challenger at Stomping Grounds ended in a double pin with both Gulak and Tozawa locked in a small package. Then, it was decided that the championship would be contested in a triple threat match at Stomping Grounds.
