NOTES & STORYLINES
The 2024 edition is the 20th event in the Slammiversary series. It is the third time that the event is taking place in Canada.
6-Way Match for IMPACT World Championship: On June 20’s IMPACT episode, Moose was celebrating retaining TNA World Championship successfully against Matt Hardy at Against All Odds event. Santino Marella announced that a 6-way elimination match would take place at Slammiversary for Moose’s title. The qualifying matches for this match stared on the same episode. The results of the qualifying matches are as below:
- Josh Alexander def. Eric Young – IMPACT June 20
- Steve Maclin def. Sami Callihan – IMPACT June 27
- Nic Nemeth def. Rich Swann – IMPACT June 27
- Frankie Kazarian def. Mike Santana – IMPACT June 27
- Joe Hendry def. Jake Something – IMPACT June 27
Knockouts Championship: Ash By Elegance appeared at WWE NXT Battleground 2024 event during Jordynne Grace’s challenge NXT Women’s Championship to stop Tatum Paxley from stealing the title belt. At Against All Odds event, Ash tried to attack Grace after she defeated Paxley for Knockouts title. On the following IMPACT episode, Ash hit an enhancement talent with Grace’s finisher – Jagguernaut Driver. When Grace came out, Ash was able to take her down and stood on top of her with the title. On the next IMPACT episode, Grace was willing to give Ash the title shot, but Ash’s Concierge told her that the title match would take place at Slammiversary.
X-Division Championship: The reigning champion, Mustafa Ali ran an interference during the #1 contender match for Against All Odds to cost Mike Bailey against Trent Seven. Ali was able to successfully retain the title at Against All Odds. On IMPACT June 27 episode, Ali said that he would prove people wrong who claimed that he was afraid of Bailey by facing him at Slammiversary.
Digital Media Championship: Fir$t Cla$$(AJ Francis and Rich Swann) were mocking the romance angle between PCO and Steph De Lander. On the June 13 Impact episode, they stole a black rose that PCO had given De Lander. As a result, PCO attacked them. PCO then defeated Swann in a singles match at Against All Odds despite Francis trying to run an interference. De Lander and PCO went on a date. Fir$t Cla$$ crashed the date by attacking PCO who was tied up to the ropes before Francis put De Lander through a table. Francis then purchased Canadian International Heavyweight Championship to mock PCO and declared himself the champion. Santino Marella announced on June 27 Impact episode that Francis would face PCO at Slammiversary for both Canadian International Heavyweight Championship and TNA Digital Media Championship.
Kushida was announced to face Jonathan Gresham in a singles match on the pre-show. Gresham could not make it to the event due to travel issues arising due to Crowdstrike outage. Rich Swann was the one to replace Gresham against Kushida.
At Under Siege, The Malisha(Alisha Edwards and Masha Slamovich) won TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship by beating Spitfire (Dani Luna and Jody Threat). During a 10-minute singles challenge match between the two members of Spitfire on July 4 episode of Impact, The Malisha ran out to attack them. Later, TNA announced via social media that Spitfire had invoked the rematch clause and would challenge against The Malisha for the title at Slammiversary pre-show.
At Sacrifice, The System’s Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards defeated ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship. ABC went through turmoil over the next few months before working out things. After The System retained the TNA World Tag Team Championship against The Hardys on the July 18 episode of Impact, TNA announced that they would now defend them against ABC at Slammiversary.
TNA World Tag Team Championship match between The System and The Hardys ened in a disqualification on July 18 Impact episode when JDC pushed Jeff Hardy off the top rope. JDC, Myers, and Edwards beat up The Hardys and forced Matt to watch as they threw Jeff into the ring post with a chair around his neck. Later that night, Tommy Dreamer pulled Matt to a scene where his wife Rebecca Hardy was attacked by who she claims was JDC. Matt was then announced to face JDC at Slammiversary.
