WWE will return to Saudi Arabia for WWE Super ShowDown 2020. This will be the WWE’s third event under the name ‘Super ShowDown’ and WWE’s fifth event in Saudi Arabia as part of the 10 years partnership with the Saudi Government. This will be the first time that this event will be part of the road to WrestleMania.

Match Card & Storyline

Brock Lesnar vs Ricochet – WWE Championship

The feud between WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Ricochet started before Royal Rumble. On 20 January RAW, Paul Heyman was doing a promo where he wondered if anyone will dare to stand up to Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match. Ricochet came out after this and stood face to face with Lesnar. Lesnar hit a low blow on Ricochet and left.

At Royal Rumble, Lesnar was dominating after entering at #1. Ricochet entered the match at #15 and Lesnar was able to dominate him. After Drew McIntyre entered at #16, Lesnar got focused on him. Ricochet hit a low blow on Lesnar from behind and it led to McIntyre eliminating Lesnar from the Royal Rumble.

On 3 February 2020 episode of RAW, Ricochet defeated Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins in a triple threat match to become the #1 contender to face Brock Lesnar at WWE Super Showdown.

The Fiend Bray Wyatt(c) vs Goldberg – WWE Universal Championship Match

Goldberg was announced to appear on SmackDown episode of 7 February 2020. Goldberg joined the show via video conferencing and revealed that he would like to face The Fiend at WWE Super ShowDown 2020 for the Universal Championship. Bray Wyatt also interrupted him and accepted the challenge to set up their match.

Goldberg appeared on 21 February SmackDown episode to hype the match. Wyatt interrupted him from the screen with Firefly Fun House. The segment then led to The Fiend appearing in the ring and Goldberg hit him with a spear. Before Goldberg could do more damage, the lights went off and the Fiend disappeared again.

Bayley(c) vs Naomi – WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship Match

Naomi made a return to WWE after 6 months at the Royal Rumble. On the following SmackDown, Bayley claimed that she had beaten every woman on the roster and there are no challengers left for her. Naomi interrupted her and reminded that Bayley had never beaten her in a singles match.

WWE booked a fatal four-way match to determine Bayley’s next opponent. Carmella won the match pinning Naomi and faced Bayley for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion on the 14 February episode. Bayley retained after pinning Mella, using the ropes as leverage in the process. After the match, both Carmella and Naomi attacked Bayley.

A frustrated Bayley then announced that she is ready to defend her title once again at Super ShowDown. A match between Naomi and Carmella was then announced for 21 February SmackDown. Naomi defeated Carmella and earned the title match against Bayley at WWE Super ShowDown 2020. This will be the first Women’s title to be defended in Saudi Arabia.

The New Day (Kofi Kington vs Big E) vs The Miz & John Morrison – SmackDown Tag Team Championship

The Miz was going through a face to heel transition as he was coming out of the feud with Bray Wyatt. His next feud started with the New Day as he faced Kofi Kingston in a losing cause. The Miz was visibly frustrated with the loss but we were in for a surprise when John Morrison was found at Miz’s door at backstage afterward.

Next week, Morrison made his full return to SmackDown with the MizTV. A feud with The New Day and former Dirt Sheet Duo started during that segment. Miz would go on to defeat Kofi on the same night on SmackDown. The animosity between the two teams increased as John Morrison also defeated both Big E and Kofi in the coming weeks on SmackDown.

At 31 January SmackDown, John Morrison and The Miz won the #1 contender match for the right to face The New Day for WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The match was later announced to be taking place at Super ShowDown 2020.

Roman Reigns vs King Baron Corbin – Steel Cage Match

The feud between King Corbin and Roman Reigns started before Survivor Series. Corbin defeated Roman in the singles match at SmackDown in Manchester, England in November with interruptions from Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. After a match against Dolph Ziggler, Roman was overpowered and was covered in Dog food by Corbin and his disciples.

Later, they faced off at WWE TLC 2019 in a TLC match, where Corbin was able to defeat Roman with Dolph Ziggler, and The Revival helping Corbin. On the New Year’s edition of SmackDown, The Usos returned to save Roman when Corbin, Ziggler and Revival tried to make him eat dog food once again.

Roman and Corbin would face-off at WWE Royal Rumble 2020 also in a Falls Count Anywhere match. The Usos, Roode and Ziggler, all got involved in the match before Roman won the match. On 31 January SmackDown, Roman & The Usos faced Corbin, Ziggler and Roode in a 6 men tag match with the stipulation that the loser will eat dog food. Roman & The Usos won the match and later covered Corbin with dog food.

On 7 February SmackDown, Corbin called out Roman and claimed that he could not beat him without any help from the Usos. Roman would come out and give a beating to Corbin when he spilled drinks on a fan in the crowd. Roman later challenged Corbin for a Steel Cage match WWE Super ShowDown 2020.

Seth Rollins & Murphy(c) vs Street Profits – WWE RAW Tag Team Championship

On the 17 February RAW episode, Kevin Owens & The Viking Raiders defeated Murphy and AOP(Akam and Rezar) by disqualification after Seth Rollins’ interference. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) came out and saved Owens and Viking Raiders in the brawl against Rollins and his team. Later, WWE announced that Rollins and Murphy will defend the Raw Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits at Super ShowDown 2020.

Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy Gauntlet Match

WWE has introduced a new trophy for a gimmick Gauntlet match. The participants for the Gauntlet match are as below:
