AJ Styles to Challenge Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank
AJ Styles has become the no. 1 Contender to face Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at the Money in the Bank event next month.
Two triple threat matches were announced prior to RAW last night and the winners of both the matches would have gone on to face each other in the no. 1 Contender’s match for the Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at the Money in the Bank event.
In the first triple threat match, as Rey Mysterio hits the 619 on Samoa Joe, AJ Styles hit the Styles Clash on him over Joe’s chest and pinned Joe to get the win. In the second match, Baron Corbin capitalized by throwing out Drew McIntyre outside the ring after he has hit the Claymore Kick on the Miz and pinned the Miz to get the victory.
In the main event of the show, AJ Styles and Baron Corbin faced off with Styles visibly carrying an injury that was restricting his movements to some measure. But Styles overcome the challenge despite that to beat Corbin after a Phenomenal Forearm.
Seth Rollins won the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania earlier this month and this will be his second title defense(His first one though was a Winner Takes All match against WWE Champion Kofi Kingston). Money in the Bank is scheduled for 19 May at XL Center in Hartford, CT. You can check out all the news related to the event at our MITB center.
