The coming episodes of WWE SmackDown are going to be a bit special since both Universal and WWE Championships are on the blue brand currently. But even before the show could start, it has run into problems. Most of the WWE superstars are still stuck in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia due to some issues with the airplane.
The show goes live from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Tom Phillips, Renee Young, and Aiden English are on the commentary. Tom mentions that they are on commentary today due to Michael Cole and Corey Graves being stuck in Saudi Arabia with some travel issues.
Brock Quits SmackDown!!
WWE Champion Brock Lesnar makes his way out with Paul Heyman. Heyman takes the mic and says Lesnar is pissed off tonight. He talks about Lesnar’s win over Cain Velasquez at WWE Crown Jewel 2019. We actually see the whole match on Thursday. Then, Heyman shows us the footage of Rey destroying Lesnar with steel chair shots after the match.
Heyman says he and Lesnar went to Vince McMahon and asked him for a Lesnar vs Rey match. Vince said he can’t do that because SmackDown Superstars are contractually exclusive to FOX, and RAW Superstars are exclusive to the USA Network. Heyman announces that Lesnar officially quits SmackDown on FOX, and is going to show up this Monday on RAW, to go hunting for Rey. Heyman closes the promo in Spanish and drops the mic as they march to the back.
The camera cuts backstage to Lesnar and Heyman exiting the building. We see Triple H and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is with him. Fans pop as they watch Lesnar and Heyman walkout.
Bayley vs. Nikki Cross- SmackDown Women’s Championship
They lock up and Bayley puts Nikki in the corner. Cross shoves her and rolls her up for a two count. The champ gets sent out of the ring with a headscissor takedown. Nikki hits a tornado DDT from the apron before bringing her in for a two count. We go to the commercial.
We return to see Cross fighting out of a headlock. She leapfrogs Bayley and rolls her up for a near fall. Bayley levels her with a clothesline for another two count. Cross avoids her in the corner and Bayley hits the middle turnbuckle. Nikki hits a running crossbody as she begins building up a head of steam. Cross hits another crossbody from the top rope for two. Sasha Banks saves Bayley from a neckbreaker.
Bayley takes advantage of the distraction and hits a flying elbow drop for a near fall. Bayley counters a tornado DDT but Nikki traps her in the apron and unloads with forearms. Banks pushes her off the top rope while the ref is distracted. Bayley manages to get the pin to retain her title.
Winner- Bayley(retains the SmackDown Women’s Championship)
Shayna Baszler attacks both Nikki Cross and Bayley after the match.
