WWE SmackDown Live Results & Updates- 25 June 2019: Stomping Grounds Fallout
Welcome to the Live Results and Updates blog of WWE SmackDown Episode of 25 June 2019 from Moda Center, Portland, OR, which will mainly deal with the fallout from the Stomping Grounds.
We get the recap of the Undertaker appearing and making a save on Roman Reigns against Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre on RAW last night. Shane McMahon, backstage, says that Roman Reigns was scared and so had to call upon the Undertaker. That would not stop him, but he issues a warning to the WWE SmackDown roster to not get on his bad side tonight.
Kofi’s Highs and Lows
Kofi Kingston and New Day make their way out to the ring. Kingston says that while he has had some amazing moments ever since he became the WWE Champion, he has had a lot of highs, but also a lot of painful lows. He reminds us been attacked by Samoa Joe last night. While Samoa Joe thinks that he is a shark who has found his prey, Kingston will not be making it easy for him.
Dolph Ziggler’s music hits and he makes his way out. He says that he refuses to let such a thing happen. He softened Kofi up and Samoa Joe was taking his opportunity for him. Ziggler wanted another opportunity because Kofi Kingston had acted like a coward by leaping out of the cage to get the title. Management has told him that if he can beat Kofi Kingston tonight in a 2 out of 3 falls match, he is going to be added to the WWE Championship match at Extreme Rules.
Elias is outside Shane’s office when the Miz comes looking for him. The Miz sends a message to Shane McMahon through Elias saying that they have some unfinished business which needs to end. Shane comes out of the office after sometime and tells Elias that he is ready to take on the Miz if Miz can beat Elias first.
The New Day(Xavier Woods and Big E) Beat Daniel Bryan and Rowan
Bryan and Woods start with a technical exchange of counters, takedowns and near falls. Rowan eventually tags in and takes control. He hits an elbow drop to get a two-count. Bryan take turns beating on Woods in the corner to keep him isolated. Woods tries to rally but Rowan runs him down.
Woods still on the receiving end of a beating from Rowan and Bryan. He runs past Erick and tags in Big E. Bryan comes from the other side and Big E throws him around with belly to belly suplexes. Bryan counters a splash and locks in the Lebell Lock. Woods breaks it up to save the match. Bryan unloads with kicks to the body before Big E hits an urinagi. Woods tags in to hit Midnight Hour to get the pin.
Post match, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn attacks the New Day and Rowan joins them. The Heavy Machinery comes out to make a save and it looks like we will get another tag team match.
Heavy Machinery and New Day Beat Daniel Bryan, Rowan, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
Bryan, Owens and Zayn knock everyone off of the apron so they can beat down Tucker alone. Owens ends up as the legal man for his team. Rowan comes in and sets up for a superplex. After a bit of a struggle, he hits it for a two count. The New Day tries to help but gets driven out of the ring by Rowan and Bryan. Tucker turns Bryan inside out with a clothesline. Otis and Zayn tag in and the big man goes to work. He spins Zayn around a few times before body slamming him. KO is frustrated with Sami being not able to counter Otis. He decides he has seen enough and heads to the back while Zayn takes the caterpillar. Tucker tags in and they hit The Compactor for the pin and the win.
Backstage, Nikki Cross tells Alexa Bliss that she has got a match against Bayley and if she beats her, Bliss will get the rematch against Bayley at Extreme Rules.
Elias(w/Shane McMahon) Beats The Miz vs in 2 out of 3 Falls Match
Elias tries to jump Miz after the bell but The Miz knocks him out of the ring and hits a dropkick through the ropes. He gets a quick two count before he puts Elias in the corner for running clothesline. Shane grabs his foot to prevent a springboard and it allows Elias to hit a jumping knee to the face. He follows up with Drift Away to get the first fall.
Elias runs at Miz and beats him down in the corner until the ref backs him up. He gets Miz grounded in a headlock for a while. Miz starts fighting back with some lefts and rights. Elias counters the Skull Crushing Finale but gets spiked with a DDT for a two count. After he knocks Shane off of the apron, Miz hits the SKF. Shane interferes in the match to cause a disqualification and this gives Miz the second fall.
After Shane nidrops and Elias destroy Miz at ringside, the bell rings and Elias hits an elbow drop to get his second fall and win the match. Post-match, Shane and Elias were leaving but comes back for Shane hit to coast to coast dropkick to add to the misery of the Miz.
Backstage, Finn Balor is interviewed by Kayla Braxton. Balor says that he knew he has to be better to overcome his opponents and puts over Andrade. He is asked who is next for him when we see Shinsuke Nakamura entering the frame. That would be a great match.
Nikki Cross Beats Bayley
Nikki takes Bayley down right away but the champ quickly recovers and takes control. She throws Nikki to the apron so she can hit a hanging neckbreaker for a two count. Nikki hits a kick before hitting a crossbody from the top to get a near fall. Bayley hits an elbow drop for two as we head to a break.
Nikki beginning to build up a head of steam. She dodges a suicide dive from Bayley and rolls her back into the ring for a neck-breaker to score a two count. They trade some sloppy Crucifix pins and then small package until Nikki pins Bayley out of nowhere. The Hugger looks shocked that she has to defend her title against Bliss again.
Sonya Deville Defeats Ember Moon
Sonya tackles Ember and hits a series of punches and a knee to the face for a quick two count. Moon levels her with a spinning clothesline and an enziguri. Deville rolls out of the ring to escape the onslaught. Mandy Rose provides the distraction and Sonya pushes Ember Moon headfirst into the ring post and gets the pin. Rose celebrates with her after the match.
Aleister Black is sitting and talking about how no one seems to be ready to face him. He complains, but suddenly there is a knock on the door. Black looks up and smiles.
Kofi Kingston Beats Dolph Ziggler in a 2 Out of 3 Falls Match
Ziggler tries to wrestle Kofi down to the mat but is unable to take him off his feet. Kofi flips out of a monkey flip and hits a dropkick for a two count. Kingston scores the first fall with a roll up. Ziggler takes him to the floor and throws him into the barricade. He hits the Zig Zag on the floor as we head to a break.
As we return from the break, the bell rings and Ziggler hits a superkick to score his first fall. Kofi tries to make a comeback as Ziggler keeps trying to beat him for the third fall. The Showoff gets whipped into the corner to give Kofi a moment to recover. Kofi creates some momentum and hits a crossbody. Ziggler rolls him up to get get a close two-count. He gets another two count with a jumping DDT.
Dolph looks frustrated. Kofi hits a chop from the top turnbuckle for a near fall. Kofi counters a Fameasser with a powerbomb for another close two count. Ziggler hits a Zig Zag for a near fall. He can’t believe he didn’t win. Both men duck each other’s signature kicks before Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise to get the pin and the win.
