Seth Rollins retained his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Fastlane 2023 PLE by defeating Nakamura in a last-man standing match.

The match began with Rollins attempting to hit Nakamura with a kendo stick, but Nakamura slipped out of the ring. Nakamura then pulled Rollins out to the floor and drove his back into the apron. Nakamura then set Rollins up on the apron and delivered a knee drop to Rollins’ back.

Both wrestlers were engaged in a brutal back-and-forth, fully utilizing various objects as weapons and taking advantage of their surroundings in the match. Nakamura connects with a diving knee to Rollins’ face. Nakamura then intesified the punishment by placing a trash can over Rollins’ head and hit it with kendo sticks.

As Nakamura readies himself for the Kinshasa, Rollins halts him with a well-timed superkick. Following this, Rollins makes a comeback by delivering a Pedigree, gaining the upper hand in the match. Later, Rollins hit a stomp on the table, and Nakamura barely managed to beat the count.

Nakamura took Rollins to the crownd and tried to use a concreate slab. Rollins then executed a Falcon Arrow, sending Nakamura crashing through a table set up below the slab. While Rollins beat the count, Nakamura was unable to respond, resulting in a victory for Rollins.

On September 25 RAW, Seth Rollins challenged Nakamura to a Last Man Standing match at Fastlane, believing the feud had escalated enough. Nakamura later appeared on screen, confirming a Last Man Standing match at Fastlane.

The feud ignited when Nakamura assaulted Rollins after a tag team match on the August 7 episode of RAW. Nakamura later revealed on the August 21 episode that he was aware of Rollins’ back injury, becoming a focal point in their rivalry, leading to Rollins’ frustration.

Seth Rollins had previously triumphed over Nakamura at Payback 2023 PLE, securing the World Heavyweight title.
