Scrapped WWE Plans for DIY Reunion Revealed from July Episode
A recent report has disclosed significant plans that were abandoned for the DIY reunion (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano).
During the October 2 episode of WWE Raw, GUNTHER successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Tommaso Ciampa in the main event.
After the match, Giovanni Vinci and Ludvig Kaiser from Imperium launched an attack on Tommaso Ciampa. However, the situation took a turn when Johnny Gargano made his return to come to Ciampa’s rescue, officially reuniting DIY.

According to a report from Fightful Select, there were concrete plans in place over the summer to reunite DIY on WWE TV. These plans followed hints and teases of the reunion on episodes of Raw. Johnny Gargano was absent from WWE programming for a period exceeding three months until his return on the most recent episode of Raw.
A common belief among many fans was that Gargano’s absence was due to another injury, but sources within WWE confirmed that he had been medically cleared since late April. However, like many other stories during that period, these plans were ultimately canceled and abandoned.
On June 19, WWE Raw in Cleveland had creative changes, including a World Heavyweight Championship open challenge by Seth Rollins. Tommaso Ciampa was set to answer, but the storyline was ultimately changed.
Johnny Gargano, backstage in his hometown, was supposed to make a surprise return and reunite DIY. However, plans changed at the last minute, and Finn Balor attacked Seth Rollins during his entrance for the match. Ciampa did make an appearance on the show by answering to The Miz’s open challenge and beat him quickly.
Now that DIY has officially reunited, they bring with them their history as former NXT Tag Team Champions, and it’s highly likely that they will set their sights on challenging for the Undisputed Tag Team titles as well.
