Trish Stratus May Wrestle Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2019
Charlotte Flair may be facing WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at SummerSlam 2019 as per the latest rumors.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Trish Stratus was in talks about a potential appearance for SummerSlam 2019 show. The 7-time World Champion is a good addition to the show that will take place in her home city of Toronto.
Now, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has confirmed with multiple sources that one of the greatest female wrestlers in the history of WWE, will indeed be wrestling at SummerSlam 2019. And her opponent is slated to be none other than Charlotte Flair.
Charlotte Flair faced Ember Moon this week at SmackDown. She was surprised by the sudden entrance of SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Ember Moon took advantage of the distraction to win the match with a roll-up pin.
Afterward, Flair cut a promo complaining about being left off the SummerSlam card. Calling herself responsible for WWE’s Women’s Revolution, she demanded a match against a talent that would prove her as the “best superstar of all time”. Going by her wordplay, it does seem like she will go on against Stratus, who is only second best to Flair in terms of Championship wins.
Stratus competed last year in a tag team match at the historic WWE Evolution PPV show which was WWE’s first women’s only show. She was also involved in a 10-woman tag team match the next night on RAW. Earlier, Stratus had also appeared on RAW in a surprise loss to Vicky Guerrero. However, if it happens, the match against Flair at SummerSlam will be the first match at PPV for Trish Stratus since retiring in 2006.
Flair, on the other hand, has last worked a PPV match at Money in the Bank where she won the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Becky Lynch. However, she lost the title in a matter of minutes as Bayley cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on her.
