Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler Win WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles
Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won the fatal 4-way match to become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions on WWE RAW May 29, 2023 episode.
An unfortunate injury of Liv Morgan during her match against Bayley and Dakota Kai on the May 12 episode of SmackDown resulted in Raquel relinquishing the tag team titles. This led to a fatal 4-way match to crown the new women’s tag team champion. Damage CTRL (Bayley and Iyo Sky), Shotzi & Raquel Rodriguez, and Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville were the other teams in the title match.
The match kicked off with Iyo Sky and Sonya Deville. After back-and-forth action in the first half, Sonya Deville got the upper hand after the break and dominated the match with Chelsea Green. But their dominance was short-lived as the match broke into chaos once again. In the end, Ronda reverse Shotzi’s frog splash and converted it into an armbar which resulted in Shotzi tapping out.
While they are long-time friends and stable mates from their MMA days, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler only started appearing together in WWE in the last year or so. The duo also won WrestleMania 39’s women’s showcase match to stamp their authority on the women’s division. This title match was their first match since WrestleMania 39.
Shayna Baszler is now a three times women’s tag team title winner. Her previous two title reigns were with Nia Jax and now the third one comes with Ronda Rousey. For Ronda, it was her first women’s tag team title win.
In the backstage interview, Ronda Rousey clearly stated that they were the baddest team on the planet and would continue to dominate the division in future.
