Another return teaser for The Authors of Pain, Akam and Rezar. They say that they have exposed the others in WWE for being soft last week. Everyone is asking who is AOP and they will show us now. They get up from the filming and we see them walk out into a hallway. They attack Heath Slater and No Way Jose and leave them laying. They return to the vignette set and say that is why no one will fight AOP. That’s the end of the segment.
Rey Mysterio vs Ricochet vs Robert Roode vs AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura – Fatal 5 Way Elimination Match for #1 Contender for Universal Championship
Rey Mysterio enters the ring before we head to commercial. Ricochet gets a backstage interview before heading into the ring. AJ Styles, Robert Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura make their way into the ring in order. AJ goes after Rey while Nakamura and Ricochet fight. Roode has rolled out of the ring meanwhile. Mysterio and Ricochet end up facing off in the ring and Rey rolls him up for a two count. They hit dives on AJ and Nakamura on either side of the ring as we go to commercials.
We return and see Ricochet sending Nakamura out of the ring with a kick. Styles runs down Ricochet with a clothesline while Roode goes after Mysterio. He throws Rey into Ricochet at ringside before having a staredown with AJ Styles. A ‘TNA’ chant starts in the arena upon this. Nakamura takes it to Ricochet with a series of strikes. Rey takes Nakamura down with a senton. Ricochet blocks a tornado DDT from Mysterio and hits a suplex for a near fall. Nakamura runs into the ring to hit Ricochet with the Kinshasa to eliminate him. Ricochet is eliminated.
All four of the remaining competitors join in to hit a tower of doom. Roode tries to pin all the other men but can’t eliminate anyone. Shinsuke hits a big kick from the middle rope for a two count on Roode. Styles avoids a Kinshasa and Rey hits Nakamura with a crossbody. Mysterio drops Nakamura on the ropes and executes a perfect 619. Styles stops him from jumping on Nakamura and hits a suplex on the apron.
Styles fights off Roode and Nakamura positions him for the Phenomenal forearm. Nakamura ends up taking that move as Roode moves out of the way. Nakamura is eliminated. Roode immediately hits AJ with the Glorious DDT to pin him. AJ Styles has been eliminated. Rey counters the DDT and sets him up for the 619. Roode hits a spinebuster out of nowhere for two. Mysterio is able to hit the 619 eventually to pick up the win and earn a title shot against Rollins.
Winner- Rey Mysterio(No. #1 Contender for Universal Championship)
We go backstage where Charly Caruso joins Seth Rollins. He congratulates Rey Mysterio and says this will be a dream match for him against Mysterio next week. He goes on and talks about winning tonight’s match with Braun Strowman, next week’s match against Rey, and the Hell In a Cell match against the Fiend.
