AEW has made the first match official for Double or Nothing 2022 PPV.

AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page will defend the title against CM Punk at the event.

CM Punk has been the #1 ranked singles wrestler in AEW Rankings for some time now. AEW teased his title shot last week when Page came out for a face-off with him after his win over Dustin Rhodes last week at Dynamite.

The match was made official during this week’s Dynamite. Punk cut a promo after the announcement saying that he has never been in a locker room that has more talent than in AEW right now. Before walking into AEW, he has asked himself this question for 7 years whether he can still do this. After 7 months, he can stand in front of his fans and say, “Hell Yeah! I can still do this!”

This will be the fifth title defense for Hangman Page since he won it from Kenny Omega at AEW Full Gear 2021 PPV. He has defeated Bryan Danielson(twice), Lance Archer and Adam Cole(twice) to successfully retain the title.

For CM Punk, this will just be his fourth AEW PPV match. He defeated Darby Allin at All Out 2021, Eddie Kingston at Full Gear 2021 and MJF at Revolution 2022.

This is the third match to be confirmed for AEW Double or Nothing 2022 PPV. The other two confirmed matches are the finals of men and women Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, where the finalists are still to be determined.

Keep tuned in for more news and updates from AEW.
