Shayna Baszler’s championship run continues as she retained the NXT Women’s title by defeating Mia Yim at NXT Takeover: Toronto II 2019
Shayna Baszler vs Mia Yim – NXT Women’s Championship Match Description
They lock up and Yim yanks on Shanya’s ear to piss her off. Shayna applies a wristlock and trips her but Mia seems unphased. Yim trips her and kicks her hard. Baszler goes for an armbar but Yim gets to the ropes. Yim hits a running kick and a cannonball in the corner. Baszler hits a forearm to block a suicide dive. Yim recovers and sends her into the steel steps. She traps Shayna’s arm and kicks the steps to crush it. Back in the ring, Baszler hits a roundhouse.
Baszler stomp’s Yim’s elbow and works on it for some time to set her up for her finisher. She puts Mia in a key lock to add more pressure. Shayna keeps working on the left arm while selling her own arm. Yim breaks a hold by grabbing Baszler’s hair. Baszler comes back with a clothesline and hits a dropkick to get a two-count. They go back and forth as they trade control. Yim hits a belly to belly that sends Shayna out of the ring.
Baszler tries the Superplex, but Yim hits the Sunset Flip Powerbomb from the top rope to get a near fall. Shayna Baszler locks in the Kirafuda Clutch, but Mia Yim targets the injured arm and to break the Clutch. Yim stomps on Baszler’s injured arm and kicks her down, before trying for the Armbar. Shayna almost gets her finisher locked in but Yim uses her injured arm to break free. Mia stomps on Baszler’s elbow just like she does to everyone else.
Yim applies an armbar but Baszler counters back into her own finisher. She transitions into a triangle choke with her legs to get the submission win and will retain her title.
