Ilja Dragunov will defend his NXT title against Carmelo Hayes at NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 Night Two event.

During the October 17 episode of NXT, Hayes, Corbin, and Dijak were scheduled to face each other for #1 contender match for NXT title. During the show, Dragunov disclosed that Cody Rhodes’ last action as the guest general manager of WWE NXT was to include Trick Williams in the match.

Dragunov then announced the match for a fatal 4-way match, but later in the episode, Williams was mysteriously assaulted backstage and subsequently had to be removed from the match as he was transported to the hospital.

Then, the match was once again turned into a triple threat Hayes, Corbin, and Dijak engaged in an exciting three-way contest. In the final moments, Corbin executed the End of Days on Dijak, and Hayes followed up with the Nothing but Net(leg drop from the top), pinning Dijak to secure the victory.

Ilja Dragunov clinched the NXT Title at NXT No Mercy 2023 PLE by defeating Carmelo Hayes. This marks Dragunov’s first title defense and presents a rematch opportunity for Hayes.

The upcoming match will be the third encounter between Dragunov and Hayes, forming a trilogy. Hayes previously defeated Dragunov for the NXT Title at NXT Great American Bash 2023 PLE, resulting in a head-to-head record of 1-1 between the two competitors.

NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 Night Two event is scheduled for October 31, 2023, and it will be live from WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida. This is the first match announced for the event.
