Nikki Cross Became No #1 Contender for SmackDown Women’s Title
Nikki Cross has won the six-pack challenge match this week at SmackDown to become the new no #1 contender for SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bayley.
WWE announced on Thursday that a six-pack challenge match to identify the no. #1 contender to face Bayley will take place on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown. The participants were announced to be Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Lacey Evans, Carmella, Dana Brooke, and Nikki Cross. Bayley, along with Sasha Banks, was at the commentary desk during the match.
The match went down just like a typical multi-person match. Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose were working in tandem to take advantage over other women. But after they were taken down with dive from Carmella, the match became wide open. After each woman got a spot of their own, Nikki Cross finished the match with a swinging neckbreaker on Mandy Rose.
WWE has not confirmed when the title match between Bayley and Nikki Cross will go down. But it can be expected to be the main event on 1 November 2019 episode of SmackDown. That episode comes just a day after WWE Crown Jewel 2019 show and we can expect more action from women’s division since they will not be traveling to Saudi Arabia for the show.
Before this match, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley was the guest at Miz TV along with Sasha Banks. As Miz asked Bayley about her actions last week, Sasha told him that Bayley is not answerable to anyone. Regardless, Bayley did cut a promo explaining her heel turn.
Bayley talked about being devasted at the women’s championship at Hell In A Cell but the fans weren’t there for her. She said that she used to try to be what they wanted her to be. But the truth is, she has outgrown them. You can check Bayley’s promo below:
