Matt Riddle Announces Departure from WWE After Release Rumors

Matt Riddle has been released from his WWE contact.
Matt Riddle used Twitter to announce his departure from WWE, stating he was no longer with the company. He expressed gratitude for the memories and hinted at a future return.
Riddle’s most recent appearance on WWE was on September 4 episode of Raw, where he partnered with Drew McIntyre and got defeated by Viking Raiders in a Tornado Tag Team match. He had been involved in an ongoing storyline with McIntyre but subsequently pulled off from RAW this week.

Fightful Select reported that Riddle “burned through too many chances for WWE Higher Ups during his time in the promotion with constant backstage issues. allegedly failed a WWE drug test in December 2022, entering rehab. He was removed from WWE Raw on December 4 but made a comeback in April 2023.
During the summer of 2020, Riddle faced allegations of sexual assault from independent wrestler Candy Cartwright, which he denied. A lawsuit was filed in October 2020 but dropped in July 2021.
However, a recent incident at LFK International airport might have been the last straw. Riddle accused a cop of sexual assault at hte airport but he himself was reported as being “disorderly”.
Former MMA competitor, Riddle joined WWE in 2018 after four years in the Indies. He was transferred from NXT to the main roster in 2020. He has held the WWE United States in 2021. He was also Raw Tag Team Champion with Randy Orton, and the NXT Tag Team Champion with Butch.
