Oney Lorcan Become #1 Contender to Face Drew Gulak at SummerSlam 2019

Oney Lorcan became the number #1 contender to face Drew Gulak for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at SummerSlam 2019.

Oney Lorcan faced Kalisto, Akira Tozawa, Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese and Jack Gallagher in a 6 pack challenge match this week at 205 Live to determine the no. 1 contender for WWE Cruiserweight Championship. During the chaotic last minutes of the match, Lorcan and Ariya Daivari rekindled their recent rivalry and started trading strikes. When Lorcan went for his finisher but Daivari countered to hit him with the hammerlock lariat.

Kalisto hit the Salida del sol of Daivari. Tozawa hits Kalisto with the top rope senton. Gallagher takes Tozawa down with a headbutt. Nese sends Gallagher in the corner and nailed him with the running Nese. Lorcan took advantage if everyone being down and hit Nese from behind. He hit Nese with a half-and-half suplex and got the pin and the win.

Drew Gulak came out after the match and posed with the title at the ramp. Gulak originally won the Cruiserweight Championship at Stomping Grounds in a triple threat match against Tony Nese and Akira Tozawa. He also successfully defended the title against Nese at Extreme Rules pre-show.

This year’s SummerSlam will have 1 and a half hours pre-show and we are likely to see 2 or 3 matches at pre-show, leaving 9-10 matches for the main card.
