Kurt Angle’s match against Rey Mysterio at RAW was changed to give him a farewell last night. Although his WrestleMania opponent Baron Corbin was having none of the emotions.
Kurt Angle was earlier advertised to face Rey Mysterio on RAW but like always those plans were changed yesterday as the preview for the match was taken down from the website. Instead, Kurt Angle came out to interact with the crowd and we got a video with his career highlights. As Angle stood in the ring, seemingly emotional when Baron Corbin interrupted him saying he could not go without two minutes huffing and puffing against the stars of today.
He also shared his frustration to all the people reaching out to him over social media saying he is not good enough for Kurt Angle’s last match. At this point, Angle told him why not they have a match right away instead of waiting for WrestleMania. Corbin reaches the apron but returns from there saying that’s the old Kurt Angle intensity and he won’t be able to make to WrestleMania. Rey Mysterio entered, slid into the ring and challenged Corbin for the match instead. After short brawl where Angle and Mysterio combined to take down Corbin, their match was fixed for later in the night.
Mysterio faced Corbin in the main event of the show which was also Mysterio’s first match at RAW in over 5 years. Corbin kept control of the match for long parts, using the ringside to his advantage. During the end, Rey was able to connect 619 but Corbin moved away from the following frog splash. After some more tussle, Corbin hit the End of Days to get the win over Mysterio. As he was going back, Angle attacked him at the entrance and put him in the Ankle Lock.
Kurt Angle will face Baron Corbin at WrestleMania on 7 April this year at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. For the updates on WrestleMania, you can check out our new WrestleMania Center- a one-stop center for all things related to WrestleMania.
