Kevin Owen Legitimately Injured, Angle Played Out of RAW

Kevin Owens Ribs Injury

Kevin Owens has reportedly sustained a real-life injury and WWE has utilized it as a part of the scripted storyline.

During the July 24 episode of RAW, Sami Zayn clashed with Dominik Mysterio for NXT North American Championship. Kevin Owens, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley were ringside during the match, but were later booted to the backstage.

Near the ending, Priest and Ripley brought Owens out to the stage after attacking him backstage. This led to a distraction for Sami Zayn and Dominik was able to roll him up for a pinfall. Owens was later seen in pain as medical personnel checked on him.

According to the report from WRKD wrestling, Owens is dealing with a legitimate injury and WWE has used it to advance the story. The news was later confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp.

Dave Meltzer also confirmed on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio episode that Owens has suffered a legitimate ribs injury, and has been working with the injury for a while to finish off the ongoing storylines. Meltzer also confirmed that Owens is set to get some rest to recuperate.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owen recently successfully defended their Tag Team Championship against Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio on July 17 episode of RAW.

SummerSlam PLE event is a few weeks away Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are not yet set to defend their titles.
