NOTES & STORYLINES

Bound for Glory is one of the major events from IMPACT Wrestling every year and has taken place every year from 2005 onwards. The event was retained as one of the 4 PPV events when IMPACT introduced online monthly special events.

2023 edition is the 18th event in Bound for Glory series. On January 25, 2023, IMPACT revealed several events in Chicago, including Bound for Glory to take place in Cicero Stadium on October 21.

Alex Shelley(c) vs Josh Alexander – IMPACT World Championship

Josh Alexander had to relinquish IMPACT World Championship in March 2023 due to an injury. Shelley won the title from Steve Maclin at Against All Odds in June. Alexander returned to action in July and teamed up with Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin on multiple occasions. Alexander defeated Maclin at Victory Road to become next in line for the title shot. On IMPACT 1000 night 2 event, Alexander said he intend to take the title back. IMPACT later announced Shelley vs Alexander for this event.

Will Ospreay vs Mike Bailey

Will Ospreay was announced for a match at Bound for Glory. This would be his first return to IMPACT since 2016. Impact later announced that Ospreay’s opponent would be Mike Bailey.

Chris Sabin(c) vs KENTA – IMPACT X-Division Championship

KENTA’s promo aired on IMPACT September 28 episode announcing his return just after Sabin had defended his X-Division title. IMPACT announced a match between Sabin and KENTA for the title at this event.

Trinity(c) vs Mickie James – IMPACT Knockouts Championship

Trinity defeated Gisele Shaw on IMPACT September 28 episode. After the match, Shaw and Savannah Evans attacked Trinity. Mickie James ran out to make the save. Then, she challenged Trinity for a title match which Trinity accepted. IMPACT announced the match for this event.

20 Person Intergender Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match

IMPACT announced the return of Call You Shot Gauntlet match at Bound for Glory. This is the fifth year in a row that his match will take place. The winner earn a title shot at the time of his/her choosing. However, it will be an intergender match this year for the first time.

The Rascalz(Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz)(c) vs ABC(Chris Bey & Ace Austin) – IMPACT Tag Team Championship

ABC lost IMPACT Tag Team titles at Slammiversary 2023 event in a 4-way tag team match to Subculture after interference from The Rascalz. The Rascalz also interfered when ABC got their rematch on IMPACT TV episode the following week. The Rascalz won the titles from Subculture at Emergence 2023 event. On night 1 of IMPACT 1000, Chris Bey won briefcase 3 in a Feast or Fire match. The briefcase contained a contract to challenge for tag team titles. ABC then announced that they would cash in the title shot at Bound for Glory.

MK Ultra(Killer Kelly & Masha Slamovich)(c) vs Deonna Purrazzo & Tasha Steelz – IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Championship

Steelz and Purrazzo were both involved in 10-knockouts tag team match at IMPACT 1000 episode where they came out on the winning side. Steelz defeated one-half of Knockout Tag Team Champions Killer Kelly in a singles match on IMPACT TV episode on October 5. This earned her a shot at Knockouts tag titles. IMPACT then announced that Purrazzo and Steelz would challenge for the titles at Bound for Glory.
