After months of speculations, Cody Rhodes’ opponent for AEW’s first event Double or Nothing is revealed now. And it is none other than Cody’s brother Dustin Rhodes(Goldust).
It was always speculated that Goldust will be leaving WWE after his contract was supposed to run out earlier this month along with the possibility of him facing his brother and AEW Executive Vice President opponent Cody Rhodes. The news became official at the latest episode of AEW’s Youtube series, the Road to Double or Nothing. It is also being said that Dustin will be wearing Red and Black paint instead of his usual Gold variant.
Although, WWE has not confirmed his departure yet, his profile is moved to the WWE Alumni page. Dustin has not worked a match since WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble event in April last year when he was part of the namesake match. Cody and Dustin has earlier faced each other in WWE once before in 2015. Also, Double or Nothing’s match might be one of the last for Dustin who celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this month.
Double or Nothing will be held on 25th May this year at MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas. For full match card of the event, please click here.
