CM Punk Wins First WWE Match, Cuts Promo at MSG Live Event

“You still got it” were the chants from the crowd at Madison Square Garden just minutes into CM Punk’s first match in WWE in 10 years.

Punk defeated Dominik Mysterio at WWE’s Live Event in New York City on December 26, 2023. Punk countered a suplex to hit GTS to get the pinfall(Check more results here).

Punk was at his playful best as he teased a takedown on WWE announcer Byron Saxton before the match. He was also teasing Rhea Ripley during the match who was at ringside in Dominik’s corner.

CM Punk also cut a post-match promo, which started with a “Yeet”. He showed gratitude towards the fans as he said, “Little part of me that came here for me. But, you guys are the high tide that raises all ships. You have carried me throughout my career.”

“I woke up this morning. Everything else, he is fortunate for. Everyday he spents here in the ring in front of all of you, he is fortunate for.”

Punk finished his promo saying that he returned to WWE to finish what he started. “And when I go on to win Royal Rumble and go on to main event WrestleMania, that ain’t me finishing my story, but that is me just getting started”, announced Punk.

WWE’s Live Event at Madison Square Garden was a big hit. Ticket sales were the highest for the venue for Boxing Day event in 8 years. Fans were in long queues to buy merchandise, and #WWEMSG was trending at #1 on X at one point.
