Bayley (c) vs Charlotte Flair – SmackDown Women’s Championship
The Hugger won the Money in the Bank Briefcase the namesake show. And on top of that, she got a perfect opportunity to encash the briefcase at the same show when she came out to make a save on Becky. As Bayley saved Becky from the assault, she also found Charlotte Flair incapacitated(who won the title a few minutes earlier). She cashed in the MITB contract and pinned Flair to win the title.
Later, Bayley went on to successfully defend the title against Alexa Bliss(Stomping Grounds), Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross(Extreme Rules), and Ember Moon(SummerSlam). But Charlotte Flair was still convinced that she was the face of SmackDown Women’s Division. She went on to mock Bayley when she appeared on “A Moment of Bliss” for being a token champion. Bayley took offense and accepted Flair’s challenge for the title match at Clash of Champions 2019.
Seth Rollins (c) vs Braun Strowman – Universal Championship + Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman (c) vs Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode -Raw Tag Team Championship
Rollins and Strowman are in a very unique situation that very few in WWE have ever been. After taking care of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Rollins was faced with another daunting task when he faced AJ Styles, who also had his OC mates in tandem with him. As the OC started assaulting him, Braun Strowman made the save.
Next week, Strowman faced AJ and once again Gallows and Anderson tried to outnumber the Monster Among Men. It was Rollins’ turn to make the save. Later, they went ahead and won the RAW Tag Team Championship from the Good Brothers. All this while, Strowman had his eyes fixed on Rollins’ Universal Championship.
Now, they are the current RAW Tag Team Champions and will face the next contenders in Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler at Clash of Champions. Regardless of the result of that match, they will need to have another match on the night as Rollins later accepted the challenge from Strowman to will defend his Universal Title against him.
Kofi Kingston (c) vs Randy Orton – WWE Championship + The New Day(Big E and Xavier Woods) vs The Revival – SmackDown Tag Team Championship
The New Day vs The Revival SmackDown Tag Team Championship WWE Clash Of Champions 2019 Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton WWE Championship WWE Clash of Champions 2019
Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton faced off at SummerSlam 2019 in a match which ended in a double count-out as Kofi lost it when Randy Orton tried to toy with his family. After that, Randy Orton stepped up the mind games. He has aligned with the Revival and has been assaulting Kofi and his New Day mates.
The new trio has managed to injure(kayfabe) Xavier Woods and Big E while have also suckered Kofi into various attacks week after week. Both trios are now set to face each other in the respective title matches. As WWE returned to Madison Square Garden, Kofi and Orton recreated one of their segments from 2009 at the same arena with Kofi crashing Orton through the table with a boom drop.
Becky Lynch (c) vs Sasha Banks – Raw Women’s Championship
After being away for 4+ months, Sasha Banks made her return to WWE on the post SummerSlam episode of RAW. And her first act was to assault Natalya, and then Becky who ran in to save Nattie. In the weeks since then, he made her desire clear that she is interested in becoming the RAW Women’s Champion. Becky was quick to accept the challenge. Later, Sasha managed to get her friend and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley on her side, to add a new dynamic to this clash.
Roman Reigns vs Erick Rowan – No Disqualification Match
Reigns was involved in a backstage accident on 30 July edition of SmackDown. When next week, someone tried to run him down with a car, it became clear that the accidents were a set-up. This started a storyline where Buddy Murphy revealed that he saw Rowan at the accident site. However, Daniel Bryan and Rowan later revealed another man looking similar to Rowan as the mystery attacker.
The things cleared up when Roman Reigns finally got hold of the video footage which clearly showed Rowan pushing the crates over him. Daniel Bryan sidelined himself from Rowan’s actions and even tried to save Reigns from Rowan’s assault. Rowan also went on to accept later that he was indeed the schemer and manipulator behind everything.
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs The Miz – Intercontinental Championship
Nakamura won the Intercontinental Championship from Finn Balor at Extreme Rules show this year. Sami Zayn revealed himself as the new spokesperson for Nakamura at a Miz TV segment. Nakamura also came out and attack Miz from behind. This was the start of a series of assaults that Nakamura laid out on the Miz with Sami Zayn working as a perfect heel on the mic.
Drew Gulak (c) vs Humberto Carrillo vs Lince Dorado – Cruiserweight Championship
Humberto Carrillo and Oney Lorcan were the last two surviving members of the Captain’s Challenge Match. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick decided to hold the no #1 contender’s match between them for the Cruiserweight Championship. Carrillo defeated Lorcan to set up the match against Drew Gulak at Clash of Champions.
However, next week, Lince Dorado made his intentions for a shot at the title. Maverick set another match between Carrillo and Dorado with the stipulation that if Dorado manages to beat Carrillo, he would be added to the title match. Dorado successfully defeated Carrillo to make the match a triple threat affair.
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross(c) vs Fire and Desire(Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose) – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose managed to defeat the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in a non-title match at SmackDown. A win over a champion means that a title shot is waiting for you. WWE later confirmed that the title match between these two teams will take place at Clash of Champions. Cross and Rose faced off in a singles match at the go-home edition of SmackDown where Cross defeated Rose.
AJ Styles vs Cedric Alexender – United States Championship
