This week at SmackDown, Kurt Angle and AJ Styles faced off for the first and last time in the WWE ring. Apart from being his last match against Styles as a part of his farewell tour before retirement at WrestleMania, this was also the last match for Kurt Angle at SmackDown brand. Angle was one of the first superstars who joined SmackDown upon the brand split in WWE.

Angle and Styles hug before the start of the match and Angle went straight for his signature german suplex. Styles avoided the Angle Slam and rolled in to lock in the calf crusher which Angle managed to roll after sometime to convert into the ankle lock. Styles also struggled to break the hold but finally managed to send Angle into the turnbuckle face first. But sadly the match came to an end at this point as Randy Orton came into the ring to hit RKO on Styles to cause the disqualification.

Angle is booked to face Baron Corbin in his retirement match at WrestleMania while Randy Orton and AJ Styles will also go face to face at the same event. WrestleMania will take place at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this year on 7 April.
