Welcome to the AEW Dynamite Live Results blog for August 17, 2022 episode, as AEW continues to build up for All Out 2022 PPV.

The episode will feature the start of AEW Trios Championship Tournament where Andrade, Rush and Dragon Lee will take on The Young Bucks & their mystery partner in the first round match. Who will this mystery partner be? Will Adam Page decide to join them last minute or will Kenny Omega return?

Another big match on the card is the best 2 out of 3 falls match between Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia. Garcia previously defeated Danielson in a singles match. #1 contender Toni Storm will take on Kilynn King while Varsity Blondes will take on The Gunn Club in a tag team match.

Punk & Moxley Face Off!

CM Punk opens the show as he comes out to the ring. Punk says he tried to make his tough guy face but the crowd has forced him to smile. He wants to challenge someone for a rematch right here right now- Adam Page. He sits down in the ring, but Page does not come out. Punk wait for a minute and says this is Coward shit from Page and his apology, later on, should be louder.

He then starts taking shots on Jon Moxley now, calling him #2 as he is the #1 guy with the AEW Championship. He then says Moxley is #3 in his own group. He continues by saying that Moxley talks about breaking bones and spitting blood, but Punk is the one who broke his leg. He then takes shots at Eddie Kingston being third best Eddie that he has faced in the ring, and second best Kingston he has shared locker room with. Moxley’s music hits and he comes out.

Moxley jokes that Punk is dropping pipebombs. He then jokes that Punk’s mouth is writing cheques that his body can’t cash. He goes on tell Punk that his belt does not mean anything right now. He also throw his own belt and says his belt does not mean anything until he beats Punk. Moxley says Punk got into AEW only because he ran out of money. They continue to argue and finally Punk slaps Moxley to start a brawl. Security runs in immediately and gets in between them. Moxley tries his best to get through them but he is not able to get to Punk. He finally had to be taken back by the security.


Will “Powerhouse” Hobbs is interviewed backstage. Hobbs says Stark is not his friend. He takes shots at Stark for hiding behind him for two years. He worked to make sure that Stark remained champion and even then Stark could not hold onto it. He also has some message for The Factory which he will tell them directly.

Bryan Danielson vs Daniel Garcia – 2 out of 3 falls Match

Chris Jericho joins the commentary table. Bryan starts with takedown. Bryan hits a couple of hard strikes. Garcia jumps on his back. Bryan hits a couple of body shots before going for a knee bar. Garcia puts on the knee bar himself. They exchange kicks on the mat. Bryan goes for a heel hook and Garcia has to catch the ropes immediately. Garcia hits a cheap kick on the break. He backs Bryan to the corner. He slaps Bryan to take us to a break.

Bryan is exploding with Yes Kicks in the corner as we return. He hits a running dropkick. Garcia counters Frankestiener with a sunset flip to get a two-count. They trade chops before hitting a butterfly suplex into jujigatami arm bar. Bryan counters with a suplex to get a two-count. Bryan goes for a submission but Garcia goes to the ropes. Bryan nails a missile dropkick on the floor. Garcia avoids a knee dive and hits Bryan with a German suplex on the floor.

Back to the ring, Garcia nails Bryan with elbows to his neck. Bryan counters a sharpshooter and puts on a dragon sleeper. Garcia counters with a piledriver and puts on the Dragon slayer. Bryan has gone to sleep and the referee gives the first count to Garcia. Garcia 1-0 Bryan.

The referee starts to count to 10 for Bryan. Bryan beats the count to continue into the match. Garcia hits big chops in the corner now. He hits a dropkick in the corner to take us to a break.

Bryan beats the referee’s count as we return. Garcia stomps on him near the ropes. Bryan starts to hulk up and hits kicks on Garcia’s calves. Garcia goes for the Dragonslayer again but Bryan turns it over and gets a pinfall out of nowhere. Garcia 1-1 Bryan.

Garcia unloads with punches. Bryan gets him in a tree of Woe to hit him with Yes kicks. He hits an Avalanche German suplex and missile dropkick to send Garcia to the floor. A tope suicida from Bryan is followed by more sidekicks. Bryan slams Garcia’s face into the ringpost before driving his shoulders into the ring post. Garcia pulls Bryan into the post to break his momentum. Bryan beats the count at 9 and a half to take us to another break.

Garcia hits a Busaika Knee as we return from the break. They lock up now and try to overpower each other. Bryan gets better of Garcia with elbow strikes. Bryan goes to stomp on the face and Garcia reverses it to hit some stomps himself. Bryan rolls him over and hits him with headbutts and then with stomps. Bryan puts on the triangle sleeper and unloads on Garcia’s head. Garcia tries to fight back but Bryan softens him up and goes for Labell lock. Bryan softens Garcia up with more elbow shots and puts on the Labell lock to get a submission from Garcia. Bryan 2-1 Garcia.

Winner – Bryan Danielson

Garcia is disoriented after the match and looks to continue the match. He then realizes that the match is over. Bryan extends his hands for Garcia, seemingly to invite him to Blackpool Combat Club. Garcia was about to shake Bryan’s hand when Chris Jericho attacks Bryan from behind. Garcia pulls Jericho away. Jericho warns Garcia and says they will talk more later. Jericho leaves the ring and Garcia follows him a bit behind as Bryan once again tries to persuade him.


We get a backstage interview segment between Swerve in Our Glory and Private Party before their AEW Tag Title match at Rampage later this week.


Tony Nese is coming out for a match, but Jon Moxley jumps on him from behind. Moxley gets into the ring and calls out Punk for a match right away. Punk comes down the ramp but security stops him from getting into the ring. Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli also come out to try to contain Moxley. Castagnoli keeps Moxley in a waistlock for a while. Moxley leaves through the crowd. Castagnoli and Yuta leave with him.


Chris Jericho is backstage with Matt Menard and Angelo Parker for an interview. Jericho says he wants to know from Parker next week whose side he is on. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat comes in and tells Jericho that Bryan should be the one to mentor Garcia. They get into an argument. Angelo Parker grabs Steamboat’s throat, which leads to him getting slapped from Steamboat.

The Gunn Club(Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) vs Varsity Blondes(Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr.)

Austib starts with an ax handle on Pillman. He knocks off Garrison off the apron. Colten tags in and hits clotheslines on Pillman. He hits a Colt .45 suplex finisher to end the match with a pin.

Winners – The Gunn Club

After the match, Billy Gunn takes the mic and tells his boys that this is what he wanted them to perform and that he is proud of them. Stokeley Hathaway comes out to the stage and Billy’s attention turns towards him. Austin and Colten attack Billy from behind. The Acclaimed run out to make the save on Billy. Acclaimed and Billy Gunn do the hand scissor to get the crowd going.


PAC has returned to Dynamite and is backstage with the rest of Death Triangle. He says their rivalry with Andrade and Rush is not over yet. They are scheduled for Trios Tournament match next week.

Jungle Boy & Christian Cage!

Jungle Boy comes out to the ring for a promo. He talks about the T-shirt he was wearing when he returned from his injury, and he was asked not to wear it again ever on TV. JB talks about attempting to hit Christian Cage ever since his return. But his attempts have gone in vain. So, he challenges Christian for a match at All Out.

Christian Cage comes out and says his answer is no. He says things are getting out of hands as Luchasaurus is suspended from AEW for headbutting security. He says he is proud of Jungle Boy and how he has grown. Christian says JB was not able to speak in the ring a year ago. Christian gets into the ring and tells JB that he wants to fix this and wants to take him to promise land again. The crowd starts chanting “Bullshit.” Christian says that JB is a family at the end of the day and JB is like a son to him.

Christian asks Jungle Boy to hug him. JB instead takes him down by double leg and starts to unload. Christian manages to leave to the floor and catches JB with a low kick. He sends JB into the barricade. JB counters by sending Christian into the steel steps. He slams Christian’s head into the steps a bunch of times before stomping on his hand. Security runs out to take things under control.


Wardlow is backstage with FTR. Dax Harwood challenges Jay Lethal for a singles match next week.

Toni Storm vs Kilynn King

King starts with a waistlock takedown. She gets a two-count with a roll-up. Storm puts on a side headlock. King takes her down with side headlock takedown. She avoids a dropkick before a drop toe hold. Storm connects a dropkick. King sets her up on the ropes and hits a springboard dropkick. Storm goes for a DDT on the floor but King blocks it and slams her into the apron and into the barricade. We cut to a break.

Storm counters a superplex as we return from the break. She hits a fishermen suplex and bridges to get a two-count. King rocks her with boot to the face. King hits a spinebuster to get another two-count. Storm counters a pumphandle with a German suplex and follows with a hip attack, swinging DDT and a pendulum DDT to get the pin.

Winner – Toni Storm

Excalibur goes through the card for upcoming shows. Thunder Rosa vs Toni Storm is announced for All Out. AEW World Championship unification match between Punk and Moxley will take place next week on Dynamite.

Andrade, Rush & Dragon Lee vs The Elites(Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson & Kenny Omega)

LFI make their entrance first. The Young Bucks come out with Brandon Cutler. They hand the announcer Justin Roberts a paper. Roberts announces several accomplishments for their partner who indeed turns out to be Kenny Omega. Omega comes out with Don Callis and Michael Nakazawa to a loud reaction from the crowd.


Rush hits a kick to Matt’s face. Nick interferes with a kick to Rush’s face. Andrade comes in and tries to stop Matt from a tag. Matt kicks him away and tags in Omega. Omega hits double ax handles on Andrade. Rush comes in and Omega deals with him with an enzuigiri. Omega hits dragon suplexes on all three opponents one by one. The Bucks tag in and The Elites hit corner splashes. The Bucks superkick Andrade and Rush. Dragon Lee is cornered and dropped to the turnbuckle before a cannonball from Nick.

The Elites hit triple superkick on Lee and the pin is broken by Andrade. Rush and Andrade are hit with crossbody on the floor by The Bucks. Omega poses but his dive is cut off by Lee. Omega sends Lee to the floor again. He goes to take a running start but his knee gave up. Jose then trips Omega from the floor. Rush and Jose hold Omega on the barricade and Lee hits him with tope suicida to take Omega into the crowd. Andrade and Rush drag both of them to the ring. Omega kicks out of the pin. Nick stops Andrade from a moonsault. Lee hits him with a headscissors on the floor.

Andrade hits Omega with a moonsault. He hits hammerlock DDT on Omega only for Matt to break the pin. Lee tags in and Omega hits him with knee strike. Omega then hits him with V-Trigger. Omega labours Lee up on his shoulders and hits One Winged Angel. The Young Bucks keep Andrade and Rush away as Kenny pins Lee.

Winners – The Elites

After the match, The Elites celebrate their win and goes to the ramp. Andrade hits Lee with a hammerlock DDT which also takes off his mask. The show goes off the air.
