WWE Wanted Adam Cole to Work As Heel Manager of Keith Lee

Adam Cole In NXT

During the AEW All Out post-show media conference, Adam Cole revealed that his decision to join the All Elite Wrestling instead of the WWE main roster was a pretty easy one. The plans for him in the main roster made it even easier as WWE’s Boss wanted him to work as a manager of Keith Lee.

Earlier today, on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE pitched Adam Cole to work as a heel manager of Keith Lee. According to him, WWE planned the heel turn of Keith Lee as well

It was also reported that the creative team would provide a different name to Adam Cole as Michael Cole is also on the main roster and they don’t want two Coles being on the same brand.

According to Dave Meltzer, WWE was planning to do a storyline similar to that of Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush. Adam Cole will portray the role of a little guy who is all talk and hides behind a big guy, who will be portrayed by Keith Lee.

This idea came directly from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon or their head writer Bruce Pichard. However, it hasn’t been pinpointed which one of them was behind this pitch.

Adam Cole certainly didn’t like this idea and decided to join AEW. He reunited with his former stablemates and is now a member of a faction called The Elite. He is also set to make his in-ring debut for AEW on the next episode of Dynamite where he will square off against Frankie Kazarian.
