Daniel Bryan vs Jey Uso WWE SmackDown 5 March 2021

Daniel Bryan won the #1 contender Elimination Chamber match for the Universal Championship. The match was immediately followed by Universal Champion Roman Reigns coming out for the title match and defeating Bryan in a minute and a half.

Daniel Bryan interrupted Roman at this week’s SmackDown and asked for a rematch at the upcoming Fastlane 2021 PPV. Jey Uso attacked him and beat him down. A match was announced between Bryan and Uso with the stipulation that if Bryan wins, he will face Roman Reigns at Fastlane.

The main event match, however, ended in a double count-out after Jey hurt Bryan’s knee by sending it into the steel steps.

This morning, Bryan appeared on Talking Smack. Roman Reigns’ special counsel Paul Heyman was also present on the show and revealed that he had been authorized to offer him a rematch with Uso for next week’s SmackDown. The stipulation was once again that Bryan had to win the match to get the title shot at Fastlane.

Bryan accepted the offer but put forward the condition that the rematch has to be in a Steel Cage to prevent outside interferences and assure a clear winner.

This will be the fifth singles match between Jey Uso and Daniel Bryan in the last few months. Uso won their first encountered and left Bryan in a bad shape with a post-match attack. Bryan has won twice since then while the latest encountered ended in a double count-out.
