Takahashi Injured, Vacates Title, Match Changed at NJPW Castle Attack

Hiromu Takahashi will be out of action for six months and is forced to vacate IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

NJPW’s Twitter Handle released the information that Takahashi suffered a torn left pectoral injury. The medical assessment suggests that the injury will leave him out of action for an estimated 6 months.

Takahashi last wrestled on 19 February episode at a Road to Castle Attack event in Morioka in a tag team match. He is believed to have suffered the injury during the tag team match. Takahashi won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title at Wrestle Kingdom 15 Night 2 after beating Taiji Ishimori.

Takahashi’s injury has also forced NJPW to change the title match at Castle Attack. He was scheduled to defend the title against El Phantasmo on night 2 of the event.

NJPW has announced today that the Junior Heavyweight title match will be a triple threat affair now. El Phantasmo, BUSHI and El Desperado will battle for the vacant title. Keep following this space for more updates.
