Jon Moxley captured the IWGP United States Championship once again after defeating Lance Archer in a Texas Death Match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom Night 1 on 4 January 2020.

Jon Moxley earlier won the IWGP United States title at NJPW Best of Super Junior Finals 2019 event from Juice Robinson, back in June last year. Moxley was later announced to defend the title against Juice Robinson in a no disqualification match at King of Pro-Wrestling.

However, Moxley was unable to reach Tokyo for the event in October amid Typhoon Hagibis. NJPW then vacated the US Title and booked Lance Archer and Juice Robinson in the title match. Lance Archer was crowned the champion on the night after defeating Robinson.

Moxley got another shot at the title that he never actually lost at night 1 of the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom against Archer. Two men worked a brutal match, using the Texas Death match stipulation to full use.

Moxley turned around the attempt from Archer to send him through the double tables set up at the ringside to hit the paradigm shift on Archer. Archer was then unable to get up and was counted out of the match.

Moxley will now defend the IWGP United States Championship against Juice Robinson on the night 2 of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom tomorrow on 5 January 2020. Moxley cut a promo after his win against Archer and told Robinson that he is coming to settle the score with him. Robinson eliminated Moxley from NJPW’s G1 Supercup.
