UFC Vegas 93 Main Event: Alex Perez to Face Tatsuro Taira, Bouts Rearranged

UFC Vegas 93 has a main event now after a couple of flyweight bouts were rearranged.

A bout between #5 ranked flyweight Alex Perez and #13 ranked Tatsuro Taira is now set to headline the event on June 15, 2024. Perez was originally set to take on Tagir Ulanbekov(ranked at #12). Ulanbekov will now faced Joshua Van, who was earlier booked to take on Taira.

The news was first reported by Eurosport’s Marcel Dorff before Iridium Sports Agency also announced the same.

Former UFC title challenger, Alex Perez is coming off a second round win over Matheus Nicolau after he stepped in to replace Manel Kape on 3-week notice. This win saw Perez snap a 3-fight losing streak.

Taira holds an impressive 15 fights unbeaten streak in his career so far. 5 of these bouts have come under UFC banner in the past two years. He was last in action to beat Carlos Hernandez at UFC Vegas 83 in December 2023. That bout was his third bout in 2023 after wins over Jesús Santos Aguilar and Edgar Chairez.

Tagir Ulanbekov is 4-1 in UFC so far, but was only once in action in 2023 which saw him beat Cody Durden at UFC 296 via face crank submission in the second round.

Joshua Van has 3 wins in UFC career so far which have come against Zhalgas Zhumagulov, Kevin Borjas and Felipe Bunes.

UFC Vegas 93 will also see Jimmy Flick take on Nate Maness in another flyweight bout on the card.
