On June 2, it was reported that UFC applied for a license to hold an event at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas on November 18, 2023. The event was later announced officially in August. The event is also called UFC Vegas 82 since it will be the 82nd Fight Night event to air from the arena.

UFC announced on August 29, 2023, that a middleweight bout between Brendan Allen and Paul Craig would headline the event.
