UFC 268 would see UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington II in the main event, UFC President Dana White has informed ESPN.

UFC 268 is tentatively scheduled for 6 November 2021 with Madison Square Garden in New York being targeted as the venue. The show comes just a week after UFC 267 from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. UFC 267 is reported to be a non-PPV event and will air for free on ESPN and ESPN Plus.

Usman and Covington headlined UFC 245 back in December 2019 with a TKO in 4 minutes 10 seconds of the last round. It is the only loss for Covington in his last 9 outings(overall 16-2). Covington disputed that result, calling it an early stoppage.

After that loss, Covington defeated Tyron Woodley with a TKO in the fifth round at a Fight Night event in September 2020. Prior to the loss to Usman, Covington defeated Rafael Dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley around that loss to Usman.

For Usman, this will be the fifth title defense after winning it from Tyron Woodley at UFC 235 in March 2019. His title defenses include Jorge Masvidal(twice), Gilbert Burns and Covington. Overall, Usman has been undefeated in UFC till now in 14 fights with a total 18 wins in a row in his MMA career.
