UFC has officially announced two fights for UFC Vegas 79 event, a welterweight bout between Andre Fialho and Tim Means, and a strawweight bout between Marina Rodriguez and Michelle Waterson-Gomez.
Rodriguez and Waterson headlined a fight night event in May 2021 in the flyweight division, where Rodriguez came out on top via unanimous decision. Both Gomez and Rodriguez are aiming to break their losing streaks in their upcoming match against each other.
Marina Rodriguez is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Rodriguez’s recent fight was against Virna Jandiroba at UFC 288 event, where she lost by unanimous decision. Michelle Waterson-Gomez is currently on a three-fight losing streak. Gomez’s recent fight was against Luana Pinheiro at UFC 287 event where she lost by a split decision.
Both Means and Fialho have their sights set on putting an end to their three-fight losing streaks as they go up against each other in a welterweight bout.
Fialho’s recent fight was against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Vegas 73, where he lost by KO. Means’ most recent fight was against Alex Morono at UFC on ABC 4 event, where he lost by submission. Before Morono, Means also suffered consecutive losses against Max Griffin and Kevin Holland
UFC Vegas 79 is scheduled for September 23, 2023, at UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas, NV, featuring a lightweight bout between Rafael Fiziev and Mateusz Gamrot in the headliner.
