Reported Location for UFC 288, PPV Heading Back to Newark

UFC might be heading back to Newark, NJ, with UFC 288 PPV event on May 6, 2023.

The location for the PPV event has not been revealed bu UFC yet, but writer & podcaster Ryan Fredericks is reporting that UFC 288 will take place at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

Prudential Center last held a UFC PPV in February 2014 when UFC 169 aired from the arena. The last UFC event at the arena was a Fight Night event in August 2019 which was headlined by Colby Covington and Robbie Lawler.

UFC 288 is expected to be headlined by bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and a Henry Cejudo. Former two-division champion Cejudo retired from MMA back in 2020 and relinquisehd the bantamweight title upon at the time. Aljamain Sterling has two successful title defenses against Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw since winning it from Yan at UFC 259.

A lightweight bout between Charles Oliveira and Beniel Dariush is going to be the co-main event of UFC 288. Oliveira just lost lightweight title to Islam Makhachev but holds the #1 position in UFC lightweight rankings. Dariush is on a 8-fights winning streak and holds #4 position in the rankings.

UFC 288 is going to be the 6th PPV event of this year and 15th event overall in the year 2023 from UFC. Two more matches were added earlier this week to the card – Armen Petrosyan vs Andre Petroski, and Devin Clark vs Kennedy Nzechukwu. Keep tuned in for the latest on UFC 288.
